JLaw Wore an Upside-Down Flower Crown and it Could be the New ‘It’ Accessory

It’s no surprise to anyone who pays the slightest bit of attention to the wedding industry that flower crowns are having “a moment”. We’d even go so far as to say they’re the go-to wedding trend of 2016 and 2017, and for good reason! They’re stunningly ethereal and can create the perfect high-impact bohemian look with little maintenance, and just as a side note, we’ve been championing them for years and many of our Real Weddings brides adore them.

But what about the “upside-down flower crown”? Even though gravity would dictate that an upside-down flower crown is impossible, in reality, the “upside-down flower crown” is actually achieved by pinning flowers into the bottom of an updo, creating a crown-like effect.

But if we’re being totally honest, as much as we’d like to present ourselves as the purveyors of taste when it comes to all things wedding, the upside-down flower crown wasn’t even on our radars until recently, when Jennifer Lawrence’s wore the fabulous ’do while promoting her latest film, mother!.

While at first glance it looked like your classic bohemian updo, once Jlaw turned around it was a completely different story. Styled by Jenny Cho and consisted of orchids, clematis, dahlias and Japanese greens provided by the legendary florist Miho Kosuda,  Harper’s Bazaar alleges that “almost an entire bouquet’s worth” of flowers went into the hairdo. “We should all wear more flowers in the hair,” said Cho via an Instagram post of some of the beautiful blooms she used to create the look. We couldn’t agree more!

Paired with a pale, almost silvery-blue dress by Dior, we think Lawrence looked positively bridal – take note, soon-to-be brides!
