Jennifer Lopez recently lit up the Los Angeles premiere of her latest movie, “This Is Me … Now: A Love Story,” with her celestial fashion choice that seemed to weave in the narrative of her fantastical movie musical. The film, which is a whimsical journey through Lopez’s high-profile romantic history, cleverly ties into her ninth studio album, “This Is Me … Now.” Notably, it features a unique “zodiacal council” of celebrities, including Jane Fonda and Neil deGrasse Tyson, who humorously oversee her dating life.
For the star-studded event held at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, Lopez chose an astrology-themed ball gown from Zuhair Murad’s Fall/Winter 2022 couture collection. The gown, styled by the renowned Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, beautifully reflected the movie’s theme. The strapless, corseted bodice, crafted from midnight-black velvet with a deep V neckline, transitioned into a flowing sheer skirt adorned with vertical crystal stripes and dazzling zodiac signs emblems, placing her own sign, Leo, in a place of prominence. This intricate detail playfully hinted at the idea that her love story with Ben Affleck, who was also present to support his wife, was destined by the stars.
Affleck complemented Lopez’s show-stopping look with a classic and sleek ensemble—a crisp black suit paired with a white collared shirt, black tie, and polished leather shoes, embodying timeless elegance.
The premiere’s after-party saw Lopez transitioning into another head-turning outfit. She opted for a Tamara Ralph couture piece that exuded luxury and glamour—a gilded blazer paired with pleated high-rise trousers and a bra lavishly adorned with gold flowers. This outfit change underscored Lopez’s versatility and fearless fashion sense, making her the center of attention throughout the evening.
Jennifer Lopez’s fashion choices for the premiere perfectly encapsulated the film’s blend of fantasy and reality, highlighting her ability to tell a story not just through her music and acting but through her style as well. Her ensemble for the evening was not merely a dress but a narrative piece that aligned with the whimsical and self-aware tone of “This Is Me … Now: A Love Story,” reminding everyone that sometimes, love stories are indeed written in the stars.
