High-school sweethearts James, once a star basketball player, and Irene, one of the team’s cheerleaders, have been married 50 beautiful years and they celebrated their amazing milestone with the dreamiest vow renewal we ever did see.

Together, the coupe have three children,  eight grandchildren and live on a plantation house in the countryside of Louisiana, where they held their exquisite and intimate vow renewal, surrounded by their  dogs, horses, cows, and chickens. Irene took our breath away in two lovely sparkly BHLDN dresses; one for their private ceremony and a second for their intimate dinner.

Reflecting back on their marriage, James said, “My uncle told me this as I walked out of the door at the church I was married in. He said ” the more you learn to love the lord the more you will love your wife. It has taken me 48 years to learn he was correct. His love for us enables a man and a women to make a life work together. We learn to love and forgive like he does.”
