How To: Save Our Weddings

How To: Save Our Weddings

Here’s an update; we have received advice that both Couples and Industry service providers should contact their local MP representative for State Parliament, to state their specific case around COVID Weddings and Private Events.

Wedded Wonderland’s Save Our Weddings initiative has received enormous support and has been re-shared hundreds of times by both Couples and the Industry. Here’s how you can join the Campaign.

“Your local MP has a powerful voice to put this forward to Parliament. We know that the roadmap is there, we’re aware that the considerations have been made. We just want them to tell us, so we can tell you, and you can move forward with your plans. It’s all about communication.”

Wendy El-Khoury, Founder of Wedded Wonderland & Wonderland Media

How To: Contact Your Local MP (VIC)

  1. If you’re located in VIC, click here.
  2. Scroll down to the dropdown section under ‘Search Federal Electorates’, and change ‘Locality or Suburb’ to ‘Postcode’.
  3. Insert your postcode in the small box above the dropdown menu and click on the blue ‘Find’ button.
  4. Scroll down to find a table with relevant suburbs.
  5. Find your suburb and click on the word under the ‘Electorate’ column.
  6. You will be redirected to a page dedicated to your Electorate – your local MP’s name will be at the top of the page, next to ‘Member:’.
  7. Save your MPs name, and search it on Google along with the word ‘Contact’ (e.g. ‘John Smith Contact’).
  8. Click on the first result.
  9. Scroll down until you come across an email address – this should end in ‘.mp@aph.gov.au’.
  10. Send your email to the above-mentioned email address.

How To: Contact Your Local MP (NSW)

  1. If you’re located in NSW, click here.
  2. Enter your postcode in the ‘Postcode’ box and click ‘Search’.
  3. Select your street name from the ‘Street’ box and click ‘Select’.
  4. Confirm that the ‘District’ presented is your own, and click ‘View District Profile’. This will redirect you to a new page.
  5. Scroll down to the ‘Parliamentary Representation’ section. Your MP is the first one on that timeline. Confirm this by checking that their ‘Date’ states ‘Present’.
  6. Save your MPs name, and search it on Google along with the word ‘Contact’ (e.g. ‘John Smith Contact’).
  7. Click on the first result.
  8. Scroll down until you come across an email address – this should end in ‘@parliament.nsw.gov.au’.
  9. Send your email to the above-mentioned email address.

If you’re not located in NSW or VIC, click on your location to be redirected to the equivalent website: QLD, SA, WA, ACT, TAS.
