Eloping in Bali costs from about US$1,500 to US$34,000, depending on how much you want handled for you. Bali planners publish elopement packages from about US$1,500 for the ceremony and a few hours of photos, and a full week with planning, photography and your villa sorted runs from about US$28,000 to US$34,000. Whether it's a clifftop above the Indian Ocean or a rice terrace at first light, the guest list is just you two.
When you line up what Bali planners actually publish, the prices fall into three tiers. They're all in US dollars, because that's how most planners on the island quote.
None of these include your flights, so keep those separate.

A package bundles the people and the setting for your day. Here's what Amora says its elopements usually cover:
Tirtha adds transfers to that list. At the multi-day level, Zephyr & Luna includes transport between locations on your guided days and the photographer's own travel, and its seven-day package adds accommodation, a symbolic officiant, flowers and hair and makeup for the ceremony.
Read every inclusion list line by line before you compare prices. One planner charges extra for the celebrant and flowers while another throws them in, so two packages at the same price can be very different days.
Indonesian law ties marriage to religion, which makes a legal wedding in Bali complicated if you're visiting from overseas, as our guide to where you can legally get married abroad explains. That's why most couples have a symbolic ceremony in Bali and do the legal paperwork at home, before or after the trip.
A symbolic ceremony is already included in the prices above. Amora quotes a legal wedding from US$850, and the planner in our Bali wedding cost guide puts legal fees between US$750 and US$2,250, depending on nationality, religion, documents and translators.
Your own government may charge something too. British citizens marrying under Indonesian law need an affidavit from the British Embassy in Jakarta or the British Consulate in Bali, which costs £50. For Australians, Smartraveller says a marriage overseas is recognised in most cases if it was valid where it happened and would have been valid in Australia. For the paperwork at home, our guide on how to elope covers the marriage licence step.
Here's what usually isn't in the package, and it can add up to more than the ceremony itself:

Bali has two seasons: dry from about April to October, and wet from about November to March. The dry months bring steadier sunshine and the biggest crowds. The wet months bring short, heavy downpours, but also greener landscapes and fewer people. April, May, September and October sit in between, and they're a lovely time for a small ceremony.
If you can, choose a weekday. Popular clifftops and temples are much quieter than on weekends.

Where you say your vows shapes the price as much as anything. A clifftop resort in Uluwatu, a jungle retreat near Ubud and a private villa each come with their own fees and minimums, so fall in love with the place first and pick the package second.
Our guide to the most romantic places to elope in Bali covers ten settings, from Alila Villas Uluwatu to the Hanging Gardens of Bali. For a fuller picture of the island, see our Bali destination guide, and for a celebration with guests, the story of a real Uluwatu wedding.
Start with the place and the photographer, because they're what you'll remember, then build everything else around them. Sort out early whether you'll marry legally at home, so the day in Bali is all about the two of you and none of the paperwork.
