Can You Wear A Tiara And Drop Earrings? Royal Style Advice According To Meghan Markle

Can You Wear A Tiara And Drop Earrings? Royal Style Advice According To Meghan Markle

We just got a sneak peek at Queen of the World, and we must admit the documentary offering us a secret glimpse into the new life of Meghan Markle has left us wanting more.

The preview shows Meghan’s first encounter with her Givenchy wedding dress. And her cute concerns about what to do if she bumps into Her Majesty in the hallway, remind us why we adore her so much.

While Meghan’s candid personality has breathed fresh air into the British monarchy, we love that her personal style is just as real.

As seen on her wedding day (and practically every outfit she’s worn since) Megh’s doesn’t just follow trends, she creates them.

Here’s how to make like Meghan and find the perfect accessories to complete your modern royal look.

Neck best thing

The boat neck on Meghan’s Givenchy wedding gown may have been worlds apart from Kate Middleton’s plunging McQueen number, but it’s actually a royal classic.

Originally spotted on Greece’s Princess Sophia in 1962, Meghan modernised this regal look with her choice of accessories – a pair of simple studs. According to jeweller Jim Chohali of Diamond World Fine Jewellery Narellan, this was “the perfect choice”

For brides experimenting with other emerging modern regal trends with minimalist necklines such as off-the-shoulder silhouettes, cap sleeves and thick straps, Jim recommends long-drop earring and medium-length drop earrings respectively.

Modern Royal ring bling

Where Meghan goes, we follow, so it’s no surprise her cushion cut diamond is influencing ring trends. According to Jim, other styles to look out for include, “pear-shaped and oval rings. The modern bride is unconventional and edgy, and is focusing more on cut, colour and clarity of the diamond, as opposed to just carats.”

It’s all in the details

The modern regal trend continues to gain momentum among designers, who are choosing to create dresses with a focus on subtle stylishness.

Think a classic silhouette with a bow, a peekaboo sequin or a pleated sleeve.

This was exampled in  Meghan’s intricate hand-embroidered wedding veil.

If you’re donning a veil, Jim says his recommendations for jewellery depend on the details of the veil and where it sits on your head.

“Anything from medium drop/studs or mini diamond hoop earrings would work.”

Can I wear a tiara?

According to Jim, Of course! In fact, it’s the one jewellery trend you must try for a modern royal look. Because what’s more regal than a diamond tiara, paired with diamond drop earrings and a beautiful statement necklace?
