The honeymoon trend you’ll either love or hate

The honeymoon trend you’ll either love or hate

The planning is finally over, the formalities are done and the big day has come and gone – you’re married! Now it’s time for your first holiday with just you and your partner as a married couple, the honeymoon.

Well, not for everyone. Some newlyweds are now forgoing a romantic, one-on-one vacation with their loved one for a holiday with their group of friends: the buddymoon.

Picture this, you, your significant other and your group of friends sailing around the Amalfi coast. Or maybe you and your spouse begin your honeymoon together in say romantic Santorini, and then meet up with your besties for a little partying in Mykonos or Ios.

The best of both worlds?

Should a honeymoon remain between newlyweds?

Even former Bachelor stars Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich went on a buddymoon with their group of friends following their fairytale Italian destination wedding.

“All our friends came along and we went to Turkey on a massive boat. So it was a lot of fun,” Anna told the Today show.

“And it’s always good when you’re travelling overseas. You kind of want to make the most of it with your friends and family so we invited them along.”

Our top picks for a buddymoon:

  • Greek island-hopping
  • Wine tasting in Barossa Valley, or better yet, somewhere in France or the Napa Valley
  • Living it up in a villa in Bali
