This bride to be took her anger to the internet to blast her fiancé after he proposed with a very tiny engagement ring.
In a post that’s gone viral all over Reddit, the woman asked if she was being either “shady” or “materialist” for not wanting to wear her new engagement ring.
Along with the snap of the ring, the future bride wrote, “We’ve been together for 8 years and talking about getting married for almost 3. This is the ring he said he saved up to buy me. Am I being shady or materialist if I tell this mf I don’t want this little a** ring”
The engagement ring is a delicate and very thin gold band with just one small diamond in the middle sitting above the band.
In just a matter of minutes, the post quickly gained traction to the site with over 200 comments made.
Some comments were on the bride to be’s side writing, “I’m not materialistic when it comes to things like this but if my man proposed with THAT I would be full on insulted.”
“He went out of his way to find the cheapest possible option; which to me says that he’s probably like that in every aspect of the relationship and will probably be like that in every aspect of their marriage,” another one commented.
And some commenters were not holding back with their thoughts, “Honestly, I’m with her on this. You can get affordable rings that don’t look like they came out of the little dispenser machine next to the stickers and gumballs at Cici’s Pizza.”
“Even with a small budget he could have gotten something that won’t immediately snap if it gets snagged, and I wouldn’t trust that jewel setting to last more than a week with everyday wear,” one commenter wrote.
“It’s not about the price, it’s the appearance of the ring. I actually snorted at how tiny and pitiful it looks,” another person wrote.
And the comments kept rolling through all talking about how small the ring is!
However, some commenters thought that the woman was being too harsh on her fiancé.
One commenter wrote, “I’m a custom jeweller. I specialise in wedding and engagement rings. Please don’t marry the guy who gave you this ring. Don’t marry this guy because if the size, shape colour or style of a ring is more important to you than your future husband’s feelings, what your idiot friends think, what complete strangers think or his ability to buy a big flashy rock? You’re going to make a s***** wife.”
Another commenter added to the discussion “My personal opinion is that the ring isn’t as important as the one giving it to you.”
