When it comes to luxury weddings, bigger is often better, but at this Crown Perth Astral Ballroom celebration, “bigger” was redefined. The star of the show? A jaw-dropping 2.61-metre wedding cake believed to be the tallest ever created for a private event in Australia and definitely the largest wedding cake Perth has ever seen.
This record-breaking masterpiece was the brainchild of Wedded Wonderland Partner, Vicky Rahmic Weddings & Events, whose fearless approach to event design has made her one of the most in-demand planners in Australia and beyond.
“From the outset, we knew the cake would be more than dessert, it would be a sculptural centrepiece, a true work of art,” says Vicky.
Vicky teamed up with the talented Perth-based cake artist Sarah Valette, whose technical precision and European artistry made her the perfect creative partner. The design? A statement of European elegance, featuring classic Roman numeral accents and cascading white orchids, perfectly in tune with the wedding’s opulent white-and-gold theme.
This wasn’t just cake, it was architecture with buttercream. Weeks of moodboards, design meetings, and meticulous planning ensured that the cake became a seamless extension of the day’s visual narrative.
Transporting and assembling a 2.61m cake wasn’t exactly a “pop it in the fridge” situation. From negotiating door widths to stopping foot traffic in the ballroom, the setup was a masterclass in precision event planning.
“Timing, coordination, and communication were critical,” Vicky explains. “We worked closely with the venue and Sarah’s installation crew to ensure every step was executed flawlessly.”
When the cake was finally unveiled, it stopped the room. The couple was speechless, guests were obsessed, and even Crown’s seasoned staff who have seen hundreds of weddings kept sneaking back for another look.
“It wasn’t just a wow moment, it was the moment,” Vicky says. “The cake became a photo magnet and a symbol of everything the day stood for: elegance, grandeur, and unforgettable experience.”
