In the heart of Australia, Abbey Holmes, the internet sensation and former Australian Rules footballer for the Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women’s league, and Keegan Brooksby, a professional Australian Rules footballer, who recently played at the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL, orchestrated a wedding that embraced the dunes and desert heat.
Their love story kicked off in 2017, at the intersection of Abbey’s return to Adelaide for her second year with the Crows and Keegan’s farewell to the Gold Coast Suns. It was love at first sight, a connection that ignited during an epic eight-hour first date that surpassed all expectations! Starting with a casual 3:30 pm coffee date, anticipating this initial meeting might go for an hour max, the rendezvous continued when Keegan suggested a move at the cinema next door! Once Jumanji wrapped up, Abbey threw “dinner?” out there to which Keegan very quickly jumped at, so the date yet again continued! From that moment, Abbey and Keegan became inseparable.
Uluru holds a special place in their hearts, as the place they got engaged at on November 8th, 2020, As Abbey, the proud “Friend of Australia” through Tourism Australia’s ambassador program, and the founder of Backyard Bandits Australia, shared her passion for domestic travel, Uluru became the perfect stage for their dream destination wedding.
Abbey’s journey in the Northern Territory, where she lived for seven years in Darwin, added an extra layer of significance to the occasion. The wedding wasn’t just a celebration of love; it was a tribute to the incredible opportunities and experiences that shaped Abbey into the charismatic internet personality she is today.
The couple, true to their adventurous spirit, encouraged their 100 guests to embrace the beauty of Australia’s landscapes and cultural history. The “Desert Formal” dress code set the tone for a stylish celebration against the iconic Australian landmark. Despite the challenges posed by the Australian weather, Abbey and Keegan’s foresight in scheduling a 4:30 pm ceremony ensured that their special day unfolded smoothly, even in the face of a scorching 40-degree day.
Alysia, the mastermind behind the dream ULURU team, recounted the seamless orchestration of the day, praising the outstanding suppliers who contributed to the magic. November 6th aligned perfectly with Abbey and Keegan’s busy schedules, creating a day filled with tears of joy, heartfelt speeches, and non-stop dancing.
