In the enchanting lands of Indonesia, Mercedeh and Saied celebrated their union with a week-long American and Persian destination wedding in Bali, a journey that began with a serendipitous meeting on the tiny island of Guam. As Mercedeh narrates, “Our journey started when I won the Green Card Lottery in Iran, leading me to Guam. It was there, at my cousin’s house, where Saied and I first met.” Initially crossing paths for professional reasons, their shared experiences and common interests soon blossomed into a bond that led them to the beautiful cliffside of Alila Villas Uluwatu for their destination wedding in Bali.
What set Mercedeh and Saied’s destination wedding apart was their desire to intertwine American and Persian cultures, an aspect that left 250 guests from various countries in awe. “Seeing friends and family from different cultures walking down the aisle together made our wedding unique and unforgettable,” Mercedeh shares with a smile. Their wedding was more than a day’s event; it was a week of festivities that culminated in strangers bonding and friendships blossoming.
Alila Villas Uluwatu, with its stunning cliffside views and tranquil ambiance, was the perfect canvas for their celebration. The couple was particularly fond of the venue’s individual swimming pools and floating cabanas, which added an extra layer of luxury to their guests’ experience. “The venue’s peaceful vibes transformed into a place of energy and celebration, something the staff remarked they had never seen before,” says Saied, reminiscing about the spontaneous dance and drinking parties.
Teal, a color representing the vibrancy and brightness of Mercedeh and Saied’s life, served as the theme for their evening reception. “We chose teal to match the breathtaking sky and ocean, staying true to Bali’s naturalistic beauty,” Mercedeh explains. This choice of color, deviating from traditional wedding hues, brought an additional challenge to their decorators but resulted in a spectacularly unique and colorful theme.
Reflecting on their favorite moments, the couple shares, “The days leading to our wedding were filled with beach parties, shopping, sightseeing, and nightly festivities of drinking, feasting, and dancing.” This pre-wedding period was a series of special moments, making the entire experience memorable. The fact that most of their loved ones traveled great distances to join them made their destination wedding even more special.
Mercedeh and Saied’s destination wedding was not just a celebration of their love but a testament to the beauty of cultural fusion, the magic of nature, and the power of love to bring people together from all corners of the world.
