Falling In Love
After meeting in 1997, the fabulous duo fell madly in love, getting engaged after a year of dating. As Victoria showed off her marquise-cut yellow diamond engagement ring, they prepared to tie the knot, just four months after welcoming baby Brooklyn. The couple chose to make it official in the lavish Luttrellstown Castle on the outskirts of Dublin, Ireland, in July of 1999. The 15th-century castle led the way of the fairytale style celebration, surrounded by lush greenery and grand architecture.
The Fashion
Victoria wore a stunning Vera Wang wedding gown that featured a corseted bodice and voluminous ballgown skirt, along with a 19-karat gold tiara and 20-foot-long train that accentuated her regal appearance. On the other hand, David himself wore an all-white ensemble designed by Giorgio Armani. To this day, their exquisitely coordinated outfits are a iconic moment in fashion history.
The Ceremony
The ceremony itself was kept intimate, with only 29 people in attendance as the couple exchanged vows in a stone cave on the property. While the guest list was limited, there was no shortage of famous faces. Manchester United teammates were in attendance, including Gary Neville as best man, Victoria’s Spice Girls bandmates (minus Geri Halliwell), and the couple’s son Brooklyn as a ring bearer. To add a further touch of romance, the couple had a white dove released as they said ‘I do’ and a flag raised above the castle reading ‘V.B.D’ – standing for Victoria, Brooklyn and David.
The Outfit Change
Naturally, the reception couldn’t begin without a outfit change from the fashionable duo. The pair kicked things off with bold, bright purple outfits designed by Antonio Berardi – Victoria in a satin fishtail gown, and David in a double-breasted blazer coupled with a flared pant. Baby Brooklyn wasn’t left out, wearing a purple suit and matching bib – how cute!
The Reception
The reception was no less grand, featuring an extravagant chocolate sponge and apple adorned wedding cake, cut with a giant saber in English tradition. The luxury didn’t end there, with the couple reportedly sitting on golden thrones during the celebration – exactly what we would expect from noughties pop royalty! Fans were lucky enough to see a video of the cake cutting and a little kiss on the couples recent 24th wedding anniversary, when Victoria shared this never before seen video on Instagram.
