Just before entering The George on Collins for a birthday dinner, Pierre suggested he and Emily take a quick photo. Handing their phone to a passerby, the couple turned to pose, before Pierre instead got down on one knee and popped the big question.
“The lady taking our photo had switched it to video mode, so we have both photos and videos of the gorgeous moment!”
For the wedding, Emily decided to go with a glamorous and antique theme. With the balcony of the Melbourne Town Hall and the George Ballroom as their reception, it was certainly a beautiful wedding that was styled to perfection.
“We had simple garlands down the centre of the long tables, and arrangements around the welcome sign, seating chart, bar, and wedding cake. I was adamant on there not being any black, so everything was white, cream, soft pink and deep, rich pinks. The florist really outdid herself!”
Celebrating with only 100 of their closest friends and family was really special for the couple, who remember their wedding as a bittersweet moment. Only three weeks prior, Emily’s older brother had taken his own life.
“It was so incredibly difficult, and when it first happened, I couldn’t even comprehend the thought of a wedding. But I like to think he was there with us, shining down on us. It was also the only day that week of really beautiful weather, and I like to think that was his doing.”
However, when Emily walked down the aisle with her father, ready to meet Pierre at the altar, it was a beautiful moment that she knew she would never forget.
Congratulations to the beautiful couple, Emily and Pierre!
