Although known as modern symbols of eternal love, wedding bands actually have a very long history dating back to ancient times. Things have changed a lot since then, but their representation of an unbreakable bond remains.

While most focus is placed on female wedding rings – it is a billion dollar industry after all – male wedding bands have only recently seen a rise in popularity. Male wedding bands gained more mainstream attention towards the mid-20th Century while many men were off fighting in World War II. The rings were seen as a reminder of home and the families they had waiting for them.
Despite this, some men still have an odd relationship with wedding bands, notably Prince William, who is often seen without and supposedly “isn’t one for jewellery.”
For those who are happy to flaunt their ring, there are a variety of options to choose from. Traditionally, male wedding bands are plain metals, however rings with intricate detailing have become popular in recent years, most often using yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold. Meanwhile, materials like stainless steel and titanium are also a more common choice as their strength lends to their longevity.
