5 REASONS BLACK IS ALWAYS ON POINT

Our love affair with black was started back in 1926, when Coco Chanel first published a picture of a short, simple black dress in American Vogue. This completely disrupted the fashion industry, who traditionally reserved black for funerals.

Since then, black has become the dress-code of fashionistas, the go-to hue for interior designers and a staple colour in every woman’s palette. No-one knows this better than Rose and Jess from Mazii Collection – who are just as obsessed with the hue as we are! We spoke to them about how they’ve created a design studio and boutique store inspired by the classics.

In the words of Taylor Swift, ‘It never goes out of style’ and here are five reasons you’ll always be on-trend with black.

1. It’s Timeless

From Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to the 2015 Elie Saab runway, black dominates; giving you confidence that whether you’ve incorporated it into your home décor, or your wardrobe, it won’t date quickly.

2. It’s Elegant

Adding black to a look, automatically makes it more formal, so it’s a great option to incorporate elements of black into your wedding décor. Think: candles, cushions, chandeliers, draping, or even florals.

3. It’s Versatile

The key with black theming is to play with texture. It’s such an easy colour to work with, but if you want to take it to the next level, work with textiles like fur, leather, velvet, steel and chiffon.

4. It’s Dramatic

Black ball gowns, smoky eyes, black feature walls – what do they have in common? They’re all about the drama. This hue captures the details of the surrounds without the distraction of colour.

5. It’s Slimming
