Second Honeymoon Ideas and Where to Go

A second honeymoon is a trip you take together years after the wedding, to mark an anniversary, renew your vows, or finally take the honeymoon life got in the way of. The best second honeymoon ideas start with why you're going, so we've grouped 15 places that way: eight destinations and seven stays, from an adults-only Fiji island to a lakeside villa on Lake Como.

Each destination links to our guide to it, and every stay was checked on its own website in November 2026. If you'd rather hand the whole trip over, Wedded Concierge plans honeymoons, anniversaries and vow renewals start to finish.

If You Never Had a First Honeymoon

1. Fiji

Getting there: about 4 hours from Sydney or Brisbane to Nadi

Best for: island time with no children around

Fiji is a short flight from the east coast, and some of its resorts are built for two. Likuliku Lagoon Resort on Malolo Island is adults only and has Fiji's first over-water bures, and you can say vows on a bure deck above the lagoon. Koro Sun Resort on Vanua Levu has adults-only floating bures across 160 acres of reef and rainforest, with beach or rainforest ceremonies if you decide to renew your vows there.

2. Bali, Indonesia

When to go: the dry season, April to October

Best for: clifftops, surf beaches and five-star resorts on one island

Bali suits couples who can't agree on one kind of holiday. Base yourselves at Uluwatu for the cliffs, move to Seminyak or Canggu for the beach, and finish at a resort in Nusa Dua or Jimbaran. For a ceremony while you're there, most couples from Australia, India and the UK do the legal paperwork at home and hold a symbolic one in Bali.

3. Mexico

When to go: the dry season, November to May

Best for: a beach week with a colonial town on the side

Mexico runs from the turquoise water of Tulum and the Riviera Maya to the Pacific sunsets of Los Cabos and Punta Mita, with colonial towns like San Miguel de Allende inland. For a ceremony, borrow a tradition from a Mexican wedding: the lazo, a cord or rosary looped around the two of you as you say your vows.

4. Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, Vietnam

Where: 5 Truong Sa Street, on Non Nuoc beach in Da Nang

Best for: a beach stay with Marble Mountain on the doorstep

Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa is on the white sand of the beach, a few steps from Marble Mountain. Book the Regency Ocean View Suite and you get 80 square metres inside plus a 27-square-metre private balcony with a daybed. The resort's spa package includes a 60-minute massage for two once per stay. It markets itself to families as much as couples, so a suite is the way to keep it feeling like a honeymoon.

Going Back to the Classics

5. Greece

When to go: May, early June or September

Best for: a caldera sunset from a cliffside pool

Greece means Santorini for most couples, and the shoulder months skip the peak-summer heat. Stay on the caldera side at Imerovigli, where Rocabella Santorini has cliffside infinity pools, and be on your terrace by five for the sunset. Add two or three nights on Mykonos for evenings that run later.

6. France

When to go: May to October, with June and September the favourites

Best for: a Paris weekend and a slow week in the south

France works as two trips in one. Start with a few nights in Paris, then go south: the Riviera between Cannes and Cap-Ferrat for the sea, or Provence for vineyards and dinners outside. For the splurge, our France page lists the Ritz Paris, the Four Seasons Hotel George V and Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc among its venues.

7. Italy's Amalfi Coast and Venice

When to go: May, June, September or early October

Best for: sea views on the coast, then canals in the city

Italy is too big for one week, so pick two regions. On the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento, hotels sit on terraces high above the water and Capri is a boat ride away. In Venice, you get around by boat between palazzos and churches. Split the week between the two.

8. Villa d'Este, Lake Como

Where: Via Regina 40, Cernobbio, on the shore of Lake Como

Price: Classic Rooms from €1,150 a night, according to the hotel

Villa d'Este splits its 151 rooms between the Cardinal's Building and the Queen's Pavilion, and there's a spa and the Sporting Club when you've had enough of the view. Its stay packages are offered from March to December. It's also one of our Lake Como venues for a vow renewal on the lake.

For a Milestone or a Vow Renewal

9. Portugal

Where to start: Lisbon, then south to the Algarve or north to the Douro

Best for: coast, palaces and wine country in one week

Portugal fits a lot into a short trip. Spend a day among the palaces of Sintra from a base in Lisbon, then choose: Atlantic clifftops in the Algarve, or port and wine estates along the Douro, one of the oldest wine regions in the world. Comporta, an hour south of Lisbon, is the quieter beach option.

10. Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel, Fiesole

Where: Via Doccia 4, Fiesole

Note: open for the season until 3 January 2027; check reopening dates with the hotel

Villa San Michele looks down on Florence from Fiesole, behind a facade attributed to the School of Michelangelo. There's a heated panoramic pool, a Guerlain spa, and three Signature Suites from 109 square metres among its 39 rooms. If family is joining you for a milestone dinner, Villa San Michele is a Wedded venue too.

11. The Phoenicia Malta, Floriana

Where: The Mall, Floriana, Malta

Best for: a city break with a pool to yourselves

The Phoenicia Malta has a Romance Package with treats and surprises for couples. Separately, its Moonlight Swim gives you the indoor pool, sauna, salt room and steam room to yourselves for two hours. There's also an outdoor Bastion Pool, and suites include the Valletta Suite and the Harbour View Suite. The Phoenicia hosts celebrations with us as well.

12. Palace Elisabeth, Hvar Heritage Hotel, Croatia

Where: Trg svetog Stjepana 5, on the main square of Hvar Town

Best for: a heritage hotel in the middle of town

Palace Elisabeth is a historic palace on Hvar's main square, now a five-star heritage hotel. Its pool and the San Marco restaurant both look out over Hvar Town, the Elisabeth suite has a sea-view balcony, and the hotel lists a spa and private yacht access among its features. Its pages don't give a 2027 season yet, so confirm dates before you book. The hotel is part of Sunčani Hvar, a Hvar group you'll also find on Wedded.

The Upgrade You Couldn't Afford the First Time

13. Switzerland

Best for: snow, mountain villages and lakeside towns

Try: a winter trip to Zermatt or St. Moritz

Switzerland is the pick if your idea of romance involves snow. Stay in Zermatt below the Matterhorn, or in St. Moritz for its lakes and world-class skiing. For somewhere quieter, Wengen looks over the Lauterbrunnen valley.

14. Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, UAE

Where: Jumeirah Beach Road, Jumeirah 2, Dubai

Price: the Tides of Love beach dinner is from AED 6,000, according to the resort

Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach has an adults-only pool and a Couples' Suite in The Pearl Spa. Its Tides of Love dinner is five courses on the beach with a bottle of rosé champagne. On selected dates through 2028, suite stays of two nights or more come with AED 1,850 of spending credit. You'll find it among our Dubai venues.

15. Anantara Mina Ras Al Khaimah Resort, UAE

Where: a private peninsula in Mina Al Arab, Ras Al Khaimah

Best for: a villa with its own pool and beach

Anantara Mina Ras Al Khaimah Resort sits on a peninsula of golden sand ringed by mangroves and a lagoon, and says its overwater villas are the emirate's first. Villas run from 82 to 365 square metres, with private pools, beach access and a Villa Host, and the resort pitches itself for anniversaries and honeymoons. More ideas in our Ras Al Khaimah guide.
