Italy on Thursday. Manhattan after dark on Friday. The Gilded Age on Saturday. Isabelle and Johnny's Newport Luxury wedding weekend didn't pick a single aesthetic, it told an entire love story, one night at a time.
Most weddings ask one question: what's our theme? Isabelle and Johnny asked a better one: what are our memories?
The answer took three days, three completely different worlds, and one ten-foot gilded cross to answer. And by the time the pizza showed up at midnight, it had turned into one of the most talked-about wedding weekends Newport has seen in years.
Here's how it happened.

Isabelle and Johnny met in New York City in December 2020, the city at its quietest. Their first date was a walk under the Christmas lights at Bryant Park. Isabelle was 22. By the end of the night, she already knew: I'm going to marry him.
Days later, she wrote it all down in her journal.
She didn't tell him. She didn't tell anyone. She kept those pages private for five years, until the night before her wedding, when she read them aloud to him in front of their closest family and friends.
That thread, quiet, patient, deeply personal, became the blueprint for the entire weekend. Long Beach Island became the feeling of the ocean. New York became an entire night. Frank Sinatra, who'd played during Johnny's proposal, followed them through every chapter. Even Johnny's white bow tie was the same style his father wore to his own wedding 35 years earlier.
This wasn't a wedding built around a theme. It was built around a relationship. The theme just came later.

The weekend opened at Newport Vineyards, standing in for the Italy Isabelle and Johnny once considered getting married in.
Instead of chasing a postcard version of Italy, they built the feeling of an Italian family dinner: long tables dressed in emerald velvet, citrus and herbs and taper candles scattered down the length of them, handmade pasta and chicken parmesan on the menu, wine poured without restraint.

Nobody rushed. Speeches ran long. Nobody wanted to leave the table. The best welcome dinners aren't performances, they're hospitality. Give guests somewhere to linger, and they will.

Twenty-four hours later, the vineyard was gone and Manhattan had arrived, specifically, the Manhattan of old-school jazz clubs, the one Isabelle and Johnny fell for during their dating years.
At The Chanler at Cliff Walk, the oceanfront terrace disappeared under crimson draping and red light. A ten-foot floral installation, drowning in red roses, anchored the room. A live band played the '50s and '60s. Dirty martinis moved through the crowd. So did cigars, and women in vintage lampshades, offering cigarettes like it was 1962. The couple's surname was projected across the room, turning it, for one night, into a private club that belonged to them.

Then came the twist guests are still talking about. Everyone was asked to wear white. Isabelle and Johnny wore red.
Isabelle designed her own gown concept, a custom feather dress, built with rising New York designer Charlotte Scott, pulled straight from Moulin Rouge. Johnny matched her in a bespoke burgundy suit by Tom Marchitelli of Gentleman's Playbook.
The welcome party isn't a warm-up act anymore. It's a whole second event, with its own dress code, its own menu, its own plot twist.

After Italy and New York, Saturday belonged entirely to Newport.
Rosecliff didn't need reinventing, so nobody tried. Ivory draping softened the ballroom, gilded candelabras stretched toward the ceiling, and white roses, hydrangeas and peonies filled in everything in between. Hundreds of candles turned the whole room the color of champagne.
Nothing here was chasing a trend. It was letting a 1902 mansion be exactly what it already is.

At the ceremony, overlooking the Atlantic, stood the weekend's most quietly powerful detail: a ten-foot gilded cross, gifted by Isabelle's 90-year-old grandmother and made locally in Rhode Island specifically for this day. No elaborate backdrop competed with it. Just the cross, white florals, and the ocean behind it.
It's already on its way back to Isabelle's family home in Pennsylvania, where it will wait for the next family wedding.
Three nights, four looks, zero repeats.
Isabelle wore Leah Da Gloria for the ceremony, sculptural enough to hold its own against Rosecliff, then changed into Netta BenShabu for the reception. Her bridesmaids skipped the traditional bridesmaid dress entirely, in black Alfred Sung satin gowns, opera gloves and tennis necklaces that looked more black-tie gala than wedding party.

Johnny moved through brown pinstripe (Thursday), bespoke burgundy (Friday), a classic black tuxedo (the ceremony) and an ivory dinner jacket (the reception), each one a costume change for a different act of the same story.
Because even the most considered wedding weekend in Newport needs a moment that isn't considered at all.
After three days of vineyards, couture, candlelight and a fifteen-piece band, the night ended with pizza boxes on the table and friends who'd stopped performing hours ago. It's the detail everyone remembers, and the reason the whole weekend felt real instead of just beautiful.
It's not the florals. It's not even Rosecliff.
It's that every single night had its own identity, and none of them fought for attention. Thursday was warm. Friday was theatrical. Saturday was grand. And the thread holding all three together wasn't a color palette. It was the couple.
This is where wedding weekends are heading: away from one aesthetic stretched across every event, and toward multi-chapter celebrations, where couples get several nights, not one, to tell their story.
Isabelle and Johnny didn't have a wedding. They had a trilogy. And it ended with pizza.
