Social media plays a huge role in your Wedding, from helping you find the best suppliers to providing the ultimate inspiration, however, when it comes to social media on the Big Day, there are certain things you should check off to ensure social media plays the ideal role on your Special Day.

Plugged or Unplugged Wedding- It’s your Wedding so you decide whether or not you want your guests posting about it throughout the course of the day. You can either choose to go completely unplugged where phones must be put away at all times, semi-unplugged (we think this is the best option), whereby some moments are kept completely intimate and private and other moments are shareable. For example, some couples prefer their ceremony to be private and intimate while no rules apply to the reception party. Or, you can opt to be unphased and allow every moment of your special day to be shared online. So, make a decision and communicate this to your guests very clearly, whether it’s on your invitations, on signage at the entrance or an announcement by the MC on the day.
Don’t Overshare – Keep that element of surprise! There is no need to share every detail of the wedding before the actual day. It’s fun to share sneak peeks of the upcoming day and keep guests in the loop, just don’t overshare. Be sure to put your chosen hashtag on display at your wedding venue, either in a picture frame or a fun sign.
Take a Wedding Selfie – Capture your own special moments, whether its a silly and intimate moment with your hubby or a fun moment with your bridesmaids, but don’t overdo it! Spend this day soaking in everything around you and being in the moment.
Hand over the reins – If you’re a social media guru and really want to keep your online fam updated throughout your wedding, we suggest you organise to hand over your Instagram to a close friend who can take care of all the finer details, so you get to enjoy your special day.
Thank You Post – A collective thank you post with a pic of you and your new hubby is a chance to thank all your guests who are online for attending your wedding and making it that extra bit more special. Of course, this is in addition to personalised thank you notes!
