Taylor Swift is back on her Eras Tour, with a surprise or two in store for the European leg of her tour! Taylor has not only cut-out some fan-fave songs, combined Evermore and Folklore into a single era, but she’s now playing songs from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD). And, what better way to enter into her new TTPD era, than by rocking custom designs from the legendary Vivienne Westwood!
During her new set, Taylor donned a custom Vivienne Westwood Couture gown crafted from white recycled taffeta… and we’re all gasping for air! This draped corseted masterpiece, inscribed with lyrics from her single ‘Fortnight’ – “I love you, it’s ruining my life” – is giving punk bridal vibes. We couldn’t help but notice how similar the style and construction of the gown was to the Maticevski gown she wore in her Fortnight video clip and white Schiaparelli gown at The Grammys… it’s all very bridal. Maybe those rumours swirling about her and Travis Kelce and wedding bells are ringing true?
Swift dramatically removed this epic gown to reveal a dazzling silver crystal-embellished bustier paired with matching high-waisted shorts. The transformation was completed with a striking white crepe tailcoat adorned with silver crystal-embellished satin lapels, echoing the grandeur of classic Hollywood mixed with rock ‘n’ roll chic. The ensemble was accessorized with a three-row pearl orb choker, a classic from Vivienne Westwood, which added to the overall 90s, punk iconography of the outfit.
Taylor Swift’s choice to collaborate with Vivienne Westwood for her TTPD era outfits is all kinds of iconic. Vivienne is known for creating more sustainably-conscious pieces these days, which was relfected in the recycled nature of TS’s first gown. We’re waiting with baited breath to see if, like all of her other era’s, TTPD has different iterations of these costumes as well!
