For years, we watched Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha navigate their way through love, life and friendships while looking incredibly stylish. In celebration of Sex and The City’s 20th anniversary, let’s take a look back on the gorgeous engagement rings that were worn by our favorite characters.
Charlotte & Trey
Charlotte received a less than ideal marriage proposal, when she accidentally proposed to Trey over dinner and he responded with “Alrighty.” Horrified, Charlotte cried to Carrie to which Carrie responded. “Alright? He said alrighty? Now, I’m thinking the upsetting thing isn’t that you proposed, it’s that you proposed to a guy that says “alrighty.”
However, Trey more than made up for his lack of words by taking Charlotte ring shopping at Tiffany & Co. For her first marriage, Charlotte received a gorgeous traditional, round diamond engagement ring from Tiffany & Co. In true Charlotte style, she opted for a classic and timeless diamond ring.
Aidan & Carrie
When Aidan proposed to Carrie in Season 4, he did it with a gorgeous Asscher cut diamond ring. Carrie decided to wear the ring around her neck so that it is “closer to her heart” rather than wearing the ring on her finger.
Miranda & Steve
Miranda and Steve had a will-they-or-won’t-they end up together romance. After an ill-attempt proposal in Season 4 and one baby later, Miranda ended up proposing to Steve while having lunch together.
Miranda and Steve opted for a very simple wedding. As a non-traditional bride, Miranda skipped the engagement ring and simply wore a classic gold wedding band.

Samantha’s ring for herself
Who says you have to get engaged to buy yourself a diamond ring? Samantha proved to women everywhere that it’s okay to treat yourself to an expensive diamond ring. She says, “This flower ring is the essence of me. One of a kind, filled with fire.”

Charlotte and Harry
For Charlotte’s second wedding, she received a gorgeous emerald-cut diamond ring. The ring was modeled after the engagement ring Richard Burton gave to Elizabeth Taylor.
Carrie and Mr. Big
After a whirlwind romance and plenty of wedding drama, Mr. Big finally sealed the deal by proposing to Carrie with a black diamond ring. He chose a black diamond ring because Carrie is “not like anyone else.” The ring was designed by Itay Malkin, who worked closely with Sarah Jessica Parker and Patricia Field in designing the ring. Mr. Big romantic vows is still stuck in our minds, “Ever mine, ever thine, ever ours.”
