PREPPING YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING FOR THE WEDDING

It may not be the most important ring of the day, but the engagement ring is still going to be front and centre on the wedding day. Not only will your ring be in all the wedding photos, but you can guarantee that guests will checking out your bling during the reception.

To get your engagement ring wedding-ready, follow these tips from Jacque at Jacque Fine Jewellery.

3 MONTHS BEFORE

At least three months before the wedding, you should finalise your wedding rings. Well-designed wedding rings will fit snugly into the engagement ring and won’t rub or move around the finger.

2 MONTHS BEFORE

If you haven’t already, make sure you’ve had your ring appraised and insured. Kkeep copies of all the paperwork, especially if you’re leaving for your honeymoon straight after the wedding and double check you’re covered internationally. This will save you stress if the ring does happen to be lost or damaged while you’re travelling overseas.

2 WEEKS BEFORE

Two weeks before the wedding, visit your jeweller to have the ring properly examined for damage or any signs of weakness. By doing this a few weeks before the Big Day it means if there are any repairs needed, there’s still time.

2 DAYS BEFORE

48-hours before the Big Day arrange to have your engagement ring thoroughly cleaned. This will ensure your ring will be sparkling for all of the wedding photos.

ON THE DAY

If you’re wearing elegant gloves as part of your wedding outfit, slip the rings over the glove for the ceremony; however, be careful that they don’t slip off. During the reception, put the rings under the glove and remove the gloves during the meal to allow your guests to admire your bling.

Avoid damaging the rings on the day by removing them when touching up makeup or using hairspray. Also, skip the smashing cake tradition to avoid getting crumbs and icing stuck in the rings.
