An intimate and romantic Proposal

Jorge Proposed in the couple’s home town at their Country Club. Jorge surprised Paola under the guise of a family dinner event. Upon arriving the two we met by a golf cart, Paola unknowingly went along. Much to her surprise, Jorge had planned a beautiful golf course proposal with floral arches, signage with the big question, and even an adorable puppy waiting in a basket. Paola’s immediate answer was Yes!

This grand romantic gesture was followed by an intimate family dinner with both his and her immediate families! The perfect way to propose!

The Mexican Catholic infused Ceremony at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Mexican Religious traditions in a New York Cathedral? Who Knew?

It is a custom in Mexico to select five pairs of close individuals to present the following, during the ritual of matrimony:

  • The Rings,
  • Wedding Coins,
  • Lasso,
  • Bible
  • Bouquet of Flowers

The rings represent a tangible promise of fidelity and devotion in Mexican Cultural Weddings

The wedding coins, known as “arras,” symbolize prosperity, wealth, and abundance in the couple’s life together. During the ceremony, the groom typically presents the bride with thirteen coins, representing Jesus and his twelve apostles, signifying their commitment to support and provide for each other. The exchange of arras also reflects the couple’s promise to share their resources and face life’s challenges together, reinforcing the themes of unity and partnership in a Mexican Cultural Wedding.

The lasso, known as “lazo,” symbolizes the couple’s union and the bond they share in a Mexican Cultural Wedding. Traditionally made of a figure-eight shaped rope or floral garland, it is placed over the couple’s shoulders after they exchange their vows. This act represents their commitment to each other and their intent to face life together as a united pair.

The Bible represents the couple’s commitment to each other and to God, emphasizing the spiritual aspect of their union. By including the Bible in the ceremony, the couple seeks divine blessings for their marriage and a commitment to live according to their faith.

The Bouquet of flowers is offered to the Virgin Mary and it symbolizes devotion, faith, and gratitude. By presenting the bouquet, the couple seeks the Virgin Mary’s blessings for their marriage, asking for her protection and guidance.

The incorporation of these additions to the ceremony personalized Paola & Jorge’s wedding day making it completely authentic to them. Perfectly capturing the essence of the couple in their Mexican Cultural Wedding.

The Glamourous St. Regis Reception

The elegant baroque style of the historic St. Regis Hotel in New York City elevated Paola and Jorge’s celebrations. The couple used reflective metallics, mirrors and crystals to bring light into the reception space. The awe inspiring bleached Rococo floral chandelier embellished the space adding character and charm to the celebrations.

The couple included a reflective dance floor at their reception, reflecting waves of colour and light from the ceiling onto the surroundings. The St Regis Ballroom is the perfect size for a Wedding like Jorge and Paola’s 200 guest affair.

Paola and Jorge’s Key Takeaways from their big day

  1. They wouldn’t change a thing!
  2. Wedding Planners are a necessity

Paola is lucky to be directly related to Wedding Planner Luis Grajeda. Luis is Paola’s brother! How special it is to have your own brother plan one of the most significant days in your lifetime! Paola confessed that “I believe that having an experienced wedding planner by your side is one of the most crucial aspects to consider at the beginning of the wedding planning process”. This aspect made Paola and Jorge’s Mexican Cultural Wedding that much more personalized!

      3. Live entertainment during a formal sit down meal captivates guests!

Paola and Jorge incorporated guest experience into their wedding day by including singer Fleur Seule, a New York City local to elevate their special day. Fleur’s vintage charm enchanted their 200 guests throughout dinner, so much so that they still can’t stop talking about it!
