MAID OF HONOUR, TAKE NOTE: SCIENCE SHOWS HOW TO MAKE YOUR WEDDING SPEECH THE FUNNIEST ONE EVER

Science, it seems, has finally been put to good use by uncovering the exact formula to create the funniest joke EVER. So MoH’s, pay attention, you can now make the funniest wedding speech ever.

The researchers studied almost 1,000 students and found that these are the key things your joke must have in it to make it hilarious.

1. Double Meaning

Believe it or not, Dads around the world are getting it right. Using puns and telling jokes that have a double meaning, make them doubly funny! For example, ‘The florist is incredible. The flowers truly rose to the occasion.’

2. Shock and Surprise

German philosopher, Arthur Schopenhaur said that “the cause of laughter in every case is simply the sudden perception of the incongruity between a concept and the real objects which have been thought through it in some relation.” In normal person words, this means that the more unexpected the joke is, the funnier it tends to be.

3. Throw in a Non-Word

The researchers found that using ‘non-words’, things like fandangle, whizztangle and boobiewhop make your joke funnier.

4. Create a Story

According to research journal Human Nature, the best jokes contain two different characters and five back and forth interactions between them.
