Vanessa Hudgens and her dashing beau Cole Tucker are officially married! The actress and entrepreneur tied the knot to the professional baseball player in Tulum, Mexico, this past weekend.
The couple met over a Zoom meditation led by the esteemed Jay Shetty. A chance encounter during the virtual session led to a connection that blossomed into a three-year romance. “I was literally on the Zoom with my girlfriend, and I started hitting her asking who he was, and she had never seen him before,” Vanessa told Drew Barrymore. “So I proceeded to look on the Zoom square to find out his name and found him on Instagram – and he sent a DM the next day.”
Vanessa, 34, and Cole, 27, a talented shortstop and outfielder, took the plunge into engagement in the romantic city of Paris in February 2023. The proposal, with an oval-shaped diamond on a thin gold band, is a testament to Cole’s thoughtful attention to Vanessa’s taste and style!
For Vanessa’s iconic bachelorette weekend, she chose the snowy slopes of Aspen, alongside her 6 future bridesmaids including Sarah Hyland. Hudgens, a lover of spooky season and Halloween, later revealed on the Today show that one night they wore black and white outfits as she’d asked her guests to dress up for her “funeral”. It’s clear her bridesmaids understood the assignment.
Soon after the engagement, the couple swiftly embarked on the journey of wedding planning. The destination? Azulik City of Arts in Tulum, Mexico—a hidden gem discovered by Vanessa on Instagram. In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Vanessa confessed to the overwhelming nature of the planning process, highlighting her determination to break away from traditional wedding venues and immerse herself in a setting surrounded by nature, greenery, and foliage.
The venue, nestled deep in the jungle, initially raised doubts for Vanessa, given its challenging accessibility. However, upon setting foot in the Azulik City of Arts, all uncertainties melted away. “I felt like I was transported to some kind of utopia, unlike anything I had ever been to before. It was whimsical and magical, and I just fell in love,” Vanessa shared.
Pia Lindstrom, the chosen wedding planner, brought Vanessa’s vision to life, ensuring every detail aligned with the couple’s unique style. Vanessa, the epitome of a trendsetter, opted for a sleek, modern, and sexy wedding dress—a light ivory chartreuse bias-cut cowl-neck slip dress by Vera Wang. The veil, with custom embroidery reading “Mrs. T December 2nd, 2023” in a gothic font, added a personal touch to her ensemble.
Cole, equally dashing, wore a Me by Canali off-white double-breasted peak-lapel wool jacket paired with tan linen-and-wool trousers. The couple’s vows, written by themselves, echoed the openness and vulnerability that define their relationship. The ceremony, officiated by Jay Shetty, unfolded in the outdoor haven Vanessa had scouted months before—a picturesque testament to their love.
Vanessa’s advice to future brides is to not do first looks, because seeing each mother at the altar for the first time mis the most emotional moment of your life. “I literally keeled over when I saw Cole and had to take a big breath and had to force myself to keep walking because I could have dropped to the floor.”
The bride and groom wrote their own vows and read them in front of about 100 friends and family members. Vanessa shared that writing their own vows was important to both of them. “I would also say to everyone: Write your own vows and read them. It is the most beautiful thing ever in a relationship to be that open and vulnerable and raw in front of all of the people you love proclaiming your love. It’s just beautiful. I loved it.”
As the sun set, guests enjoyed cocktails amidst the ethereal setting, surrounded by flower bouquets hanging from trees. The evening continued with a dinner in an area reminiscent of a set, followed by a seamless transition into the reception. Vanessa’s second Vera Wang gown, a strapless macrame lace and silk mousseline creation, allowed her to dance the night away with grace and style.
Live music and heartfelt speeches filled the air, creating an atmosphere of love and celebration. And, of course, being the music-obsessed people they are, they had to join in and participate. Cole played the drums while Vanessa sang. The night continued with a DJ, playing from a playlist curated by Cole, featuring hits from Nelly to Eminem. Late-night snacks of grilled cheese and pizza kept the energy high, concluding the festivities at 11 p.m.
Reflecting on the magical weekend, Vanessa shared, “It was genuinely the most magical weekend of my life.” The couple’s decision to have a private wedding, coupled with a phone-free policy, created an intimate space for genuine connections. Vanessa expressed gratitude for witnessing their family and friends coming together.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
