For years, Michelle Choi has invited viewers into the quieter corners of her life through her much-loved “living alone diaries,” turning everyday routines, solo dinners and slow city days into a distinct kind of internet comfort watch. Now, her audience has been given a glimpse into a much bigger chapter: her wedding.
And while the setting was undeniably grand, it was the personal details that made Michelle Choi’s wedding feel especially memorable.
The content creator married her longtime partner at Bourne Mansion, a historic Long Island estate, while continuing to keep her husband’s face out of the public eye. From a fashion moment involving her mother to a crowd-pleasing serving of ramyeon, the celebration proved that a beautiful wedding does not have to leave personality at the door.
Michelle’s bridal look struck a beautiful balance between contemporary minimalism and classic bridal drama.
Her gown by Elly Sofocli from Kayla Bennet, featured a fitted bodice beneath a delicate, sheer overlay that extended across the shoulders, creating an almost weightless cap-sleeve effect. From the waist, the silhouette opened into a voluminous skirt with layers of soft tulle, giving the dress its sweeping, romantic movement without feeling overly traditional.
The real drama, however, came from the scale. In the outdoor portraits, Michelle’s train stretched across the grass behind her, while her veil added another layer of softness to the look. Paired with a sculptural white bouquet and her hair pulled neatly back, the overall effect was elegant but refreshingly unfussy.
It was very much bridal, obviously, but it still felt like Michelle.
The wedding took place at Bourne Mansion, a historic Long Island estate that brought together the grandeur of a classic American wedding venue with the softness of an outdoor garden celebration.
The ceremony was held on the estate grounds, with guests seated on either side of a long aisle that led toward the couple against an expansive green landscape. The setting was kept relatively restrained, allowing the surrounding scenery to do plenty of the visual work.
Inside, the reception shifted into something altogether more cinematic.
Michelle and her husband celebrated in a grand white ballroom with soaring ceilings and elegant architectural detailing. Overhead, a canopy of projected, dappled light transformed the ceiling into something that looked almost like sunlight filtering through leaves. It gave the room an immersive, dreamlike quality and created a beautiful contrast against the traditional interiors.
For the couple’s first dance, the effect was pure movie scene. Honestly, the kind where guests immediately know they should keep their phones up.
Forget a blue garter or a hidden ribbon stitched into the gown. Michelle’s something blue came with a much more sentimental story.
Her mother wore a blue Mac Duggal dress to the wedding, making her part of Michelle’s bridal tradition in the sweetest possible way.
It is one of those details that is easy to overlook in a wedding recap but says so much about how personal traditions can be interpreted. Michelle also shared several personal moments from the lead-up to the celebration in her pre-wedding vlog.
She flew her makeup artist, Ah-ryeom, in from South Korea for the occasion. Ah-ryeom is a professional makeup artist and associate director at Meet Cute, a hair and makeup salon in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul.
Michelle also spent part of the lead-up preparing her guest favours, wrapping GIT by Elorea perfume, which she revealed was also her chosen wedding-day scent.
There was another particularly thoughtful moment, too. Michelle and her fiancé finalised their prenuptial agreement before the wedding, something she had previously spoken about as an unexpectedly meaningful process. Rather than seeing the conversation as purely transactional, she shared that discussing important subjects with their lawyers ultimately brought them closer.
“We actually talked about having a pre-nup pretty early on in our relationship—I thought it was a very insightful experience. Even the lawyers are kind of like ‘it’s kind of an unromantic thing to do ahead of your wedding but I kind of thought it got us closer because we talked about something very important,” she said in her vlog.
Not the most traditionally romantic wedding errand, perhaps, but an important reminder that getting married involves more than choosing flowers and finalising a seating chart.
Even after sharing glimpses of the celebration, Michelle has continued to keep her husband’s face private. It is a choice that feels consistent with the way she has navigated sharing her relationship online, giving her audience access to meaningful moments without handing over every part of her personal life.
And perhaps that is what made the wedding feel all the more intentional.
