8 Iconic Celebrity Wedding Veils Of Our Time

A wedding gown may be the centerpiece, but the veil is where a bride's story truly begins to unfold.

Delicate yet deliberate, it is one of bridal fashion's most personal accessories: a trailing reflection of identity, sentiment, and style that moves with every step down the aisle.

Over the decades, a handful of celebrity brides have used this singular piece to make extraordinary statements, permanently etched into many minds.

These women beautifully elaborated what a veil could mean.

From silk embroidered with flowers from every corner, to a cathedral train bearing a child's drawings, to tulle dip-dyed a defiant pink, these are 10 of the most unique celebrity wedding veils in recent times.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas (2018)

If there is one veil in recent history that commanded an aerial view to be fully appreciated, it is Priyanka Chopra's.

Ralph Lauren originally envisioned a 100-foot train to fill the long walk down the palace aisle, but Priyanka negotiated him down, proposing 50 feet before they ultimately settled on 75. The result required six people to manage the veil as she glided out of the church toward the altar at the breathtaking Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India.

Beneath it, the gown itself took 1,826 hours to complete, featuring 32,000 pearlescent sequins, 5,600 seed beads, and 11,632 Swarovski crystals,  and a piece of her mother-in-law's lace wedding dress was sewn in as a sentimental touch.

Priyanka captioned her official IG post simply: "And forever starts now…" and somehow, the 75 feet of tulle said everything else.

Kourtney Kardashian Barker (2022)

Leave it to the Kardashians to turn a wedding veil into a devotional act.

Kourtney's ceremony at Villa Olivetta in Portofino was ornate and deeply symbolic, featuring a show-stopping cathedral veil train with the Virgin Mary hand-embroidered on it.

Surrounding the portrait were the words "family loyalty respect,” mirroring an identical tattoo on Travis Barker's skull, making the veil a wearable tribute to her groom.

The wide, long tulle veil also featured floral lace appliqués inspired by the flowers of the Portofino gardens, crafted by Dolce & Gabbana. Gothic, romantic, and unmistakably them.

Sofia Richie Grainge (2023)

The wedding that launched a thousand "quiet luxury" mood boards also gave us one of the most technically inventive veils in recent memory.

Sofia Richie Grainge's cathedral-length veil was adorned with delicate resin water droplets, custom-made in collaboration with Chanel, catching the light like morning dew as she walked down the aisle at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in the South of France.

The glistening piece sparkled as she walked; a masterclass in the kind of quiet showmanship that defines the most sophisticated bridal fashion.

Hailey Bieber (2019)

Hailey Bieber's wedding veil was pure Virgil Abloh, and that is the highest possible compliment.

The cathedral-length veil featured the phrase "Till death do us part" embroidered along its edge in Abloh's signature Helvetica font, turning one of the most traditional bridal accessories into a piece of conceptual fashion.

Hailey herself described the veil as the "icing" on the look, and Virgil explained his vision simply: "For her, I wanted something fun and youthful, but still traditional."

Jennifer Lopez (2022)

For a woman who has played a bride in several films, Jennifer Lopez always knew her real wedding dress had to be something else entirely.

Lopez's ceremony gown was a riff on Ralph Lauren's iconic turtleneck column dress, boasting a ruffled skirt made from over 1,000 handkerchiefs and 500 meters of fabric, paired with a cathedral-length veil that billowed dramatically in the Georgia breeze.

She added a dramatic 20-foot-long veil that gently blew in the wind as she walked alongside her new husband on a bridge overlooking the river, with daughter Emme and stepdaughter Seraphina helping to carry it.

Nicola Peltz Beckham (2022)

Nicola Peltz Beckham arrived at her Palm Beach ceremony in a custom Maison Valentino Haute Couture gown and a veil that was proud in its beauty.

The show-stopping train was paired with a floral-print lace veil that Nicola's stylist Leslie Fremar described as "a work of art."

The gown incorporated sweet personal details: her mother added an evil eye as a talisman, along with a message the Valentino team stitched into the gown in blue thread as her Something Blue.

The overall effect of a lace veil, matching gloves, and platform Versace shoes was romantic and refined in equal measure.

Ariana Grande (2021)

Fewer than 20 guests, a candlelit Montecito living room, and a veil that became instantly iconic for its restraint alone. Her custom Vera Wang look was completed with a lily-white tulle shoulder-length hand-pleated bubble veil with a satin bow accent, directly inspired by the one worn by Audrey Hepburn's character Jo Stockton in Funny Face.

She accessorised with pearl and diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz, one worn upside down as a nod to her Sweetener era.

Ciara (2016)

When Ciara married Russell Wilson at the 19th-century Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England, she wore a custom Roberto Cavalli gown by Peter Dundas, and a veil with a secret she didn't even know about until the second fitting.

Ciara shared the story herself on Instagram.

"I wanted to wear a veil like my Mom. @peter_dundas surprised me with R.C.W. initials in the back at our second fitting. I was blown away by the detail."

The cathedral-length veil practically floated behind her down the aisle, the monogrammed initials of Russell C. Wilson hidden at the hem. It was a love letter from designer to bride, revealed only when she turned to walk away.

Which iconic celebrity wedding veils have never left your mind?
