What do you really want brides to know about your business?
Winnow Chocolates offers a unique option for wedding favours, gifts and desserts. All our chocolate is organic, fair trade and gluten-free and our dark chocolate is dairy-free and vegan. We offer a bespoke chocolate option where couples can design their own unique chocolate flavours to suit their wedding, be it for a dessert table, bomboniere or as gifts for bridesmaids.
What or who is your biggest inspiration?
I take inspiration from a whole range of places – art, architecture, design and of course travel. Travels throughout Europe, Africa and Asia have inspired many of the chocolate flavours. Wandering through the souks in Marrakech a few years ago was a sensory overload…with perfumes, spices, fruits, nuts and of course an abundance of colour, an experience which definitely influenced the development of a few of our products.
The wedding industry as a whole and sites such as Wedded Wonderland provide constant inspiration be it through gorgeous floral designs, stunning handmade lace dresses or unique menu offerings…there is always something awe-inspiring!
How did you enter your industry?
I really just fell into making chocolate. I had left a corporate job and was working part-time in a chocolate shop when the opportunity arose to train as a chocolatier…I jumped at it! I have always loved hand-made items, be they gourmet food products, beautiful ceramics or gorgeous hand dyed fabrics, so learning the traditional French technique of hand-tempering on marble was the perfect way of combining all my interests. Having previously worked in the wedding industry in various styling, wedding cake design and event management roles it only seemed natural for me to combine my love for weddings with my chocolate making.
