Every wedding featured on Wedded Wonderland begins with a submission. Our editors review celebrations, proposals and honeymoons from couples and creatives worldwide. These tips outline how to prepare a compelling submission, whether you are a couple, photographer or planner.
We look for a point of difference. It might be a setting, a family tradition, a design idea or a story that unfolds across the day.
A wedding does not need to be large or expensive to stand out. It needs to feel like the couple, with details that hold together from the first photograph to the last. Our real weddings give a good picture of the range we publish.
Other informative guide: the Australian Copyright Council’s information sheet on photographers and copyright and Arts Law’s guide to who owns the rights in commissioned photos.
Send the whole day. A complete gallery lets editors see how the story unfolds, and a limited selection hides the details that often make a feature.
Share one gallery link with the password in the same message, using an online gallery service rather than attachments.
Add gallery subheads such as getting ready, ceremony, portraits, family and reception.
Make web-resolution and high-resolution files available, with originals on request.
Include a highlight reel and social edits if you have them.
For real weddings, proposals and honeymoons, we ask for a gallery of at least 10 images with a highlight reel and social media edits. Editorial features call for a high-resolution gallery of 15 to 30 images, 5 to 10 videos and 10 to 50 behind-the-scenes and social items. Our guide to the wedding shots to brief your photographer on helps you plan the gallery in advance.
Credits tell the story of who made the day, so they need to be accurate. List between six and twelve suppliers, including the venue, photographer, planner or stylist, florist, celebrant, caterer, stationer, hair and makeup artists, and the gown or suit designer.
Use each supplier’s business name and social handle exactly as they write it. If you are unsure of a detail, ask the supplier, since a single misspelt credit can delay a feature.
Write a short, honest account of how you met, how the proposal happened and why you chose your venue. Add one or two details only you would know, such as a family ritual or a song. You do not need polished prose, since our editors refine the writing before it is published.
Here is a complete example. “Mia and Daniel met at a friend’s dinner in Melbourne and realised they were both planning the same trip to Italy. Daniel proposed on a ferry across Lake Como, and they married eighteen months later in a clifftop garden near Byron Bay with forty guests. Mia’s grandmother’s brooch was pinned inside her bouquet, and Daniel’s father read a poem in Greek and English.”
Consent comes before everything else. We ask for permission from the photographer, videographer, couple and venue to feature the images on our website and social media.
Ownership of wedding photographs depends on the contract. In Australia, photographs commissioned for a private purpose such as a wedding are owned by the couple unless the contract says otherwise, and the photographer keeps a right to restrain other uses. Many photographers keep copyright and licence the images to the couple, so check your agreement and ask for written consent either way.
Tell the editors where else the gallery has been published or submitted. Many publications prefer images that have not been seen before, and openness helps them advise you. Our guide to questions to ask when booking a wedding photographer includes how images will be shared.
Credits that are incomplete or spelt differently from the supplier’s own.
A limited gallery instead of the full day.
A gallery link without a password, or one that expires before it is reviewed.
Missing consent from the photographer or venue.
No mention of where else the images have appeared.
Once you submit, you can track your submission’s progress in Wonderland Studio. Our editors polish the story and publish it, and they may come back with questions about credits or details.
Reply quickly to any questions, since a prompt answer keeps your feature moving. When it is published, share it on your own channels and tag the suppliers who made the day.
Get Featured is open to real proposals, weddings and honeymoons, editorial features, live coverage and influencer collaborations. Submitting is free and takes a few minutes, and we are in touch soon after.
Real proposals, weddings and honeymoons are shared in full, including destination celebrations, elopements and multi-day events. Send 10 or more images with a highlight reel and social edits, the love story with location, date and vendors, and consent from the photographer, content creator, videographer, couple and venue.
Editorial features suit styled shoots and editorials with a strong point of view from stylists, planners, designers and venues. Send a high-resolution gallery, a concept story with vendor credits and the creative direction.
Live coverage lets us capture your day in real time and create your Wedded Time Capsule. Share the event details and location.
Influencer collaboration is for creators of wedding, beauty or luxury lifestyle content with at least 5,000 followers, for content features, podcasts and more.
Write the feature yourself and our editors polish and publish it, then follow its progress in Wonderland Studio. Features are seen by vendors, planners, venues and global media, stay online with backlinks, and reach more than three million followers and monthly site visitors. Start at Get Featured, and if you create content for weddings, see how to write for Wedded Wonderland.
