Everything We Know From Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge’s Destination Wedding

Everything We Know From Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge’s Destination Wedding

The Wedding the world  (us included) cannot get enough of! Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge tied the knot in a fairytale wedding that took place at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes on the French Riviera.

The couple exchanged vows in front of their celebrity friends, including Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Joel Madden.

The Proposal

Elliot Grainge proposed to Sofia Richie in Hawaii in April 2022, during a surprise trip with their friends. The couple had been dating for a year, and the proposal took place at golden hour. The young model shared the happy news on Instagram with a caption that read, “Forever isn’t long enough.”

The Wedding Planning

The wedding planning took the couple about a year, and they worked with Banana Split, Luxury Wedding, and Event Planner from London.

The Dresses

Chanel created three custom dresses for Sofia Richie. The first was a hand-beaded gown (this one might be our fave!) that the model wore for the rehearsal dinner. The dress was inspired by a gown worn by Stella Tennant in the 1997 Chanel couture fall show. Sofia’s sister, Nicole Richie, designed a pair of diamond earrings to complement the glowing Birde-to-Be.

The second dress was the wedding gown, a beautiful lace-embroidered halter gown with a long train that the model had envisioned during her first fitting at the Chanel salons in Paris. Within the dress are subtle details, including an embroidered heart to represent the love that Elliot and Sofia share, as well as a blue embroidered S&E on the inside of the dress above her heart. The veil was a unique piece, designed by the Chanel team, adorned with resin water droplets that sparkled when Sofia walked.

The third dress was a party dress, designed for the after-party. Sofia collaborated closely with her stylist, Liat Baruch, and Olivia Douchez, the première of haute couture salons, to choose the references that she loved, “We re-created the Claudia Schiffer corset dress from the early ’90s,”. Sofia’s mini-dress had intricate beading and fringe detailing adding a touch of glamour and fun to the ensemble.

The Bride’s Jewelry

All of Sofia Richie’s jewelry was from Fred Leighton, a renowned jewelry designer. She wore drop-diamond earrings by Kwiat, Fred Leighton’s parent company, for the reception, and her chandelier aquamarine stone earrings by Fred Leighton served as her “something blue” for the after-party.

The Groom’s Attire

Elliot wore a Ralph Lauren suit at the rehearsal dinner and a Tom Ford tuxedo for the wedding day itself.

The Bridesmaids

The seven bridesmaids wore all black, and Sofia gave them the freedom to choose their own dresses, ranging from YSL to Rodarte.

The Pre-Wedding Events

The night before the wedding, Sofia slept in a villa on the property with her bridesmaids. The next morning, they woke up early to attend the rehearsal, wearing pajamas. The girls had breakfast together, and Sofia’s bridesmaids surprised her with balloons and all of her favorite breakfast foods. “The next morning, I woke up with all of my bridesmaids and my sister and we went to an 8 a.m. rehearsal. We were all in our pajamas and had a lot of fun and then that led into breakfast. They surprised me with balloons and all of my favorite breakfast foods—we were like giddy little girls getting excited for the day to come.” Sofia tells Vogue.
