Brides with a taste for crystals and iridescent floral embroidery will be smitten with the Georges Hobeika Fall Couture 2023 collection, unveiled on July 3 during the Paris Haute Couture Week Fall/Winter 2023-2024.
With a new collection themed “A Dream,” the Lebanese fashion house presents a gossamer take on glamour. The fluid silhouettes complement the intricate crystal work, calling to mind the image of water twinkling in the sunlight. In a similar way, the illusion lace achieves a frosted yet lightweight look, giving the gowns a more magical, glistening feel.
Now, those who wish to venture outside of the usual white wedding dress could take some cues from Hobeika’s use of subtle gradients. The collection features feathered and heavily crystaled gowns that experiment with pastel hues that pool at the bottom half, as if the color had melted downwards. For color-loving brides, this lively fashion choice is well worth looking into; wearing a dynamic accent skirt would undoubtedly make your float down the aisle more spellbinding.
The collection also exhibits a diverse array of necklines. Deep plunges, ornate off-shoulders, playful strappy designs, and collared numbers all make an appearance. This is a fair range of styles to try on for brides who are yet undecided on their preferred neckline, which is a definitive feature of any wedding dress.
While understated, the accessories of this collection are noteworthy. In lieu of the popular butterfly design, Hobeika opted to spotlight the dragonfly. The symbol is incorporated into the jewelry and footwear, setting the ensembles abuzz with a quirky yet pensive aura. In one look, a crystal headpiece (and possible veil alternative) is seen—an ostensible nod to the fascinating eye of the winged insect.
