BEFORE YOU CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, YOU HAVE TO ASK THEM THIS

Finding the perfect Wedding photographer is a lot like finding the perfect dress; you know as soon as you see it. Before you sign on the dotted line and pay a deposit, make sure you ask your photographers these questions.

1. How would you describe your style?

Make sure this marries up with the styles that you like.

2. Have you ever shot a Wedding at <insert your venue>?

If they haven’t, suggest a site tour so they can pick the best locations for photos.

3. Do you have a list of shots you’ll be getting?

If they have a shot list (a list of poses they want to shoot), ask for it so you can make sure you’re happy with the look and feel.

4. How many photographers are included?

Having just one photographer can mean you miss out on some magic moments (ie, you can’t shoot the Bride and Groom’s reaction as she walks down the aisle). We recommend having at least two.

5. How many hours will you be shooting?

If you’re wanting a photographer to get snaps of you and your Bridesmaids getting ready, you may have to pay extra (but, we promise it’s worth it!).

6. How much do extra hours cost?

See point 5!

7. Do you bring lighting?

If your photographers don’t provide lighting, you may have to organise some yourself, especially if the venue is dark.

8. Can I have unlimited photos edited?

You probably will want to see between 250-500 images from your Wedding day to choose from and most photographers should be happy to edit any that you wish.

9. When will they be ready?

This is important, especially if you need the images for something special (like a Real Wedding feature on Wedded Wonderland).

10. How do you provide the images?

Photobook, disc, USB, online album – the options are endless.

11. Can I request you wear…

If you have a Wedding theme (ie. Black tie), check that your photographer is happy to abide by the dress code too.

12. What happens in an emergency?

If your photographer gets violently ill, is there a back-up or contractor that he can call?

 13. How much?

Photographers are not something you want to skimp on, so be aware that their cost may eat up a chunk of your overall Wedding budget.
