Becca Bloom: A Lake Como Wedding Guided By Chinese Fortune Telling

TikTok influencer Becca Bloom (real name Rebecca Ma) and software engineer David Pownall tied the knot on August 28, 2025, at the iconic Villa Balbiano in Lake Como, Italy.

What started as a rain-drenched forecast transformed into one of TikTok’s most romantic weddings, as Becca Bloom embraced culture, fate, and love on Lake Como.

Known to her millions of followers as the face of RichTok content, Becca is no stranger to opulence but her wedding proved to be more than just a showcase of couture gowns and cinematic backdrops.

It became a story of spiritual guidance, cultural symbolism, and an unexpected twist of fate delivered by the weather.

The couple didn’t simply pick a date based on availability or convenience. Instead, they leaned into tradition and consulted a fortune teller, who advised them to marry on August 28. This detail, whimsical yet deeply intentional, underscored how important spiritual alignment was to their story.

When forecasts predicted heavy thunderstorms across Lake Como, guests worried the day might be spoiled.

But Becca and David chose to see it differently. They embraced the idea that rain could carry meaning, trusting in the chosen date and what it symbolized. Their confidence paid off because as the ceremony began, the skies cleared, transforming the atmosphere into something both serendipitous and cinematic.

The Significance of Rain in Chinese Culture

Rain might rattle many brides, but for Becca, it became an omen she welcomed. In Chinese traditions, rain on a wedding day is a sign of prosperity, fertility, and abundance. It suggests a harmonious union blessed with growth and good fortune.

Becca’s parents, who follow feng shui, reminded her of this as showers persisted throughout the morning. Both sets of parents had also been married in the rain and went on to build decades-long marriages. That legacy reframed the downpour not as a problem, but as a gift.

Then, just as guests began to arrive for the ceremony, the skies shifted. The rain stopped completely, leaving behind fresh air and a faint shimmer of sunlight that filtered through the clouds.

eeAs she walked down the aisle, a soft gust lifted her veil, which she described as a spiritual sign of presence from her late grandparents who could not be with her in person. The coincidence carried a weight that went beyond weather, it was the intersection of belief, nature, and love.

A Wedding That Defied Expectations

The rest of the evening only reinforced that belief. Later, when the rain returned during the reception, it felt celebratory rather than disruptive. Fireworks lit up the sky as Becca and David ran laughing into the storm, dancing under the rain-soaked night like the final scene of a rom-com.

What might have been seen as bad luck transformed into the very thing that defined their celebration. “They say a wet knot is the hardest to untie,” Becca said in an interview. “That’s how our vows felt—bound, blessed, and enduring.”

From couture gowns to cosmic signs, Becca Bloom’s wedding showed us that sometimes the perfect day isn’t about perfect weather, it’s about the meaning you make of it.
