If you haven’t been following us on Instagram and Facebook, you might not have seen us obsessively following all the catwalk looks from Paris Fashion Week (our Fairy Nadia is having a blast at every show).
Her most recent viewing was none other than design extraordinaire and Wedded Wonderland favourite, Zuhair Murad – and the show was far from disappointing.
Finding inspiration in Native American and First Nations cultures, Zuhair Murad‘s Couture Spring 2018 show was a gorgeous sea of feathers, fringes, and geometric shapes.
As reported by WWD, Murad stated that his inspiration came from his admiration of these cultures, saying backstage, “I have a lot of respect for native cultures. Without them, we are not here. They left us an unlimited heritage of art and beauty.”
Exploring shades of white, black, red, and gold, Murad’s collection mixed classic feminine gowns with modern design, bringing feathers and rompers to the forefront. As 2018 is shaping up to be a year of bold statement pieces and fashion-forward trends, the standout looks from the show are a clear indication that we could be seeing more of these looks reaching ready-to-wear audiences.
While Murad ticked the boxes for feathers, fun rompers, and sleek jumpsuits, another fashion powerhouse also brought a new take to feathered accessories.
Valentino’s Spring 2018 collection featured large, colourful feathered hats on his runway, with standout colours of aquamarine, fuchsia, and lavender.

While we don’t expect to see fashionistas rocking the streets with fluffy feathers atop their heads, we do see Murad’s sleek take on the trend finding its way into wardrobes – and even wedding aisles – worldwide.
