It started with a Skype interview. Maura was looking for an opportunity to work overseas, John was looking for smart advertising execs. Before Maura knew she was on a plane to Australia, although it would be a year before they started dating. One fateful night and too many tequilas later… the rest was, as they say, history.
“Everyone always says the wedding day is the best day of your life and now I can understand why. There are not many days in your life that you get to be surrounded by all the people you love, from all different parts of your life,” Maura told Wedded Wonderland.
The couple chose to celebrate their wedding day in Byron Bay as they wanted to marry in a beautiful and relaxed setting and Byron just happened to be one of their favourite places in Australia. “Our entire wedding was on the stunning Verandahs property. We held our ceremony under the palm trees in the front lawn, had drinks and canapes on the gorgeous wrap around balcony and then dinner and dancing in a marquee tent amongst the trees.” This sounds and certainly looks simply divine!
Reflecting back on their special day, the couple told Wedded Wonderland one of their favourite moments of the day was their heart-warming marriage ceremony. “Our ceremony was a blend of Jewish and Catholic traditions, it was a very personal and emotional ceremony.”
