Burckel and Greg’s love story began in December 2016, with the simplicity of college life and the profound connection that would shape their future. Fast forward to March 2021, and Greg proposed at the summit of a mountain in Arizona, surrounded by the brilliance of a sunset. The couple exchanged vows on a breathtaking white-sand beach in Cabo San Lucas in January 2022, describing their wedding as a fairytale. The celebrations continued with a dreamy honeymoon in the enchanting islands of Tahiti.
The decision to host their wedding at Grand Velas Los Cabos in Mexico wasn’t made lightly. Burckel, along with her mom, explored around ten different locations within a brief two days, each with its unique charm. However, Grand Velas Resort captured her heart. The lush property, adorned with perfectly bloomed bougainvillea, exquisite food quality, and the warmth of the staff, made it the unequivocal choice for the couple.
As a nod to their roots, Burckel and Greg infused New Orleans culture into their celebration. A traditional New Orleans-style Second Line, complete with umbrellas and handkerchiefs, showcased the vibrant and lively spirit of the city. The grooms wore pins of Burckel’s late father’s initials, honoring his memory in a poignant yet celebratory manner.
Grand Velas, a large yet intimate property, provided the perfect canvas for the couple’s dream wedding. The layout of the venue ensured accessibility for all guests, fostering a sense of togetherness. From the pristine white sand beach to luxurious guest rooms, diverse and high-quality dining options, and exceptional hospitality, Grand Velas created an atmosphere where the couple’s vision seamlessly came to life.
Burckel dazzled in four different outfits throughout the weekend, showcasing a range of styles and designers. From a custom-made dress by Pedram Couture for the welcome party to an Alamour the Label gown for the rehearsal dinner, the piece de resistance was her Galia Lahav wedding dress. The after-party saw her in a custom-tailored jumpsuit turned romper by Nadine Merabi. Fellow Menswear in New Orleans crafted a custom suit for the groom’s rehearsal dinner and a tuxedo for the wedding day.
The couple’s wedding was a symphony of magical moments, each contributing to the overall fairytale ambiance. From the whimsical twinkle tent adorned with sheer draping and chandeliers to a surprise song lyric aisle during the ceremony, every detail was meticulously planned. The cocktail hour featured unique attractions like a cigar roller, a kissing booth, a live cellist, and a red rose suspension bar, foreshadowing the “til death do us party” theme of the after-party.
