5 TRENDING WEDDING GOWN SILHOUETTES YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

As we head into the middle of the year, we’re preparing for the new season’s release of Wedding gowns from designers based across the globe. The influx of lace, tulle and silk will provide Brides a direction with the latest fabrics, silhouettes and embellishments and these new gowns will set the benchmark for Wedding Day looks over the coming twelve months.

To help guide Brides on the newest trends, we spoke with White Lily Couture’s Creative Director Alera Kingham who explains that “This season, we’ll see more variety and these new trends will really bring a sophisticated European-edge to the modern Wedding Day look.”

Here are the newest silhouettes Brides can expect this season!

1. The New Fashionista

Alera reveals that this season, the fashion-forward Bride will be embracing a more minimalist, chic look, as opposed to the over-embellished Bridal look of last year. Pare this look back even more by using simple pearls of diamond studs to finish your sleek silk gown.

2. The New Naked

The new naked dress is far more modest than the last season’s risqué gowns (think Beyonce and Kim K at the 2015 Met Gala)! The sheer panelling and lace work will be limited to show just a hint of skin and won’t necessarily have a fitted mermaid-skirt. Instead the cut-outs and lace can be teamed with a princess skirt to give Brides a touch of sensuality with a gown that is still appropriate for a church Wedding.

3. The Transformer

This season is all about giving Brides options to customise their gown by adding lace sleeves, bows and removable trains. Not only will this allow girls to personalise their Wedding gown, but they can change up their look between the ceremony and the reception.

4. The Fairy-tale

The new princess-look has also been pulled back for this season, with more attention on the fabric and fit rather than the amount of sequins, frills and other embellishments. Using pleating and folds, Brides can have a stunning fairy-tale gown that is both flattering and timeless.

5. The Statement Back

Last year, there was heavy focus on the low-cut, cleavage-bearing gowns, but this year, the tide has turned and it’s all about the back! A statement back can be paired with a high or a medium-neckline and can suit Brides of most shapes; however pairing a completely backless gown with a low-cut neckline should be done with caution, as it can look over-the-top if not pulled off correctly.
