9 OF THE BIGGEST WEDDING CAKES IN THE WORLD

9 OF THE BIGGEST WEDDING CAKES IN THE WORLD

It’s true what they say, we eat with our eyes. And when it comes to wedding cakes, presentation and wow factor is everything. While simple elegance can make a stunning statement, no one can ignore a buttercream dream that almost grazes the ceiling. So feast your eyes on these cakes, Fairies. The size alone will blow your mind.

1. 12-Tiers

The wedding of Filipino actor Dingdong Dantes and his bride Marian Riveras made headlines early last year after their 12 foot wedding cake stole the show. Weighing in at 120 kg, the cake apparently cost seven million pesos (over $500, 000 AUD), making it even more costly than the bride’s $150, 000 dress.

2. Stardust and Posies

When it comes to extravagance, no one does it better than royalty. Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco made sure their cake was an absolute showstopper, complete with numerous tiers and adorned with Proteas (South Africa’s national flower) in homage to the Princess’ roots.

3. Bling all ‘Round

When big cakes like this one trend, it seems to be because one can’t help but love this floral, diamanté dream. If the idea of draping your cake in crystals and fragrant blooms appeals to you, consider ordering enough tiers to feed your guests and substituting foam tiers for the rest to maintain the height illusion.

4. A Princess Castle

This ornate castle confection perfectly complimented the Cinderella-style gown opted for by this Indonesian bride. These Instagram snaps had us questioning whether a baker or an architect brought this masterpiece to life.

5. Edible Extravagence

When Wedded Wonderland featured Ali and Lana’s lavish nuptials back in 2014, their seven tier Wedding  cake blew us away. In keeping with the opulent styling of the entire event, the cake was no exception. Completely enshrouded in white roses, this couple took monochrome styling (and dessert) to a whole other level… literally!

6. Gold and Cream

This intricate, five-tier creation just screams glamour and sheer decadence. Unsurprisingly, it’s receiving a lot of love on social media. But size aside, what really sets this cake apart is the difference in texture between each tier. From its ruffled base to its quilted midsection, the brilliance is in the detail.

7. Carousel Cake

This towering confection was the Wedding cake of Asian pop-royalty, Angelababy and her actor husband Huang Xiaoming.

8. Just WOW

Warning: wedding inspo overload!  Expertly created by Malaysian based cake company Lenovelle Cake, this spectacular suspended wedding cake is the perfect fusion of floral and ornate details. A feast for the eyes (and for guests), this entire set up is swoon-worthy.

9. Record Breaking

Taking out the record for the world’s biggest wedding cake are the chefs The Mohegan Sun Casino and Hotel. Though created for a showcase and not an actual wedding, we can’t help but admire the 6.8 tonnes of baked and frosted deliciousness that is this cake.
