7 Things You Should Ask Your DJ or Band

The last thing you want is an unprepared DJ/Band who ends up sounding horrific

1. Are you familiar with the wedding venue & their sound systems?

2. Can we plan: the entry, first dance, father-daughter dance etc.

Ah yes, the entry! The most anticipated moment of the whole night, and the only reason why some guests actually rock up on time! If there’s a particular song or sequence of songs, be sure to let your DJ/Band know well before the night.

3. If you’re unable to attend, do you have a backup?

It happens a lot more often than you think, so be prepared! It’s crucial to make sure your DJ/Band have a backup plan and don’t leave you asking for an AUX cord and a random person’s playlist, yikes!

4. Do you also act as an ‘MC’?

It’s one thing to provide the service, it’s another to execute. Pay attention to the way he/she speaks or intrigues the overall conversation. You can generally tell whether it’s the right person for your night through their personality and the vibe you receive.

5. Do they provide any sort of lighting? I.e. disco lighting.

If so, you might need to decide whether or not they match the theme or look you’re going for.

6. Suggest a playlist or genre.

You’re bound to have some favourites that you love and need to hear on your big night. Throughout your planning stages, keep a diary and jot them down! Also, don’t forget any traditional songs that are a must

7. Ask for references.

Contacting previous clients can seriously influence your final decision. Don’t be scared to branch out and ask around! These days you can also find most businesses on Google or social media with great insightful reviews.
