This winter, it’s all about taking inspiration from the red carpet and the ‘it-girls’ of Hollywood like Blake Lively, Mila Kunis and Kendall Jenner who are more about highlighting their natural features, as opposed to layering on heavy contour.

To complete this on-trend Bridal makeup look, we’ve asked Sarah Marie from Sarah Marie Makeup to spill the beans on her insider tricks and tips.
1. It’s All About That Base
This season, there is more focus than ever before on ‘flawless skin’, so it’s all about the prep work before you start applying the makeup. It’s important to keep your skin hydrated and Sarah Marie shares her secret exfoliating recipe.
‘Try mixing a teaspoon of brown sugar with a teaspoon of coconut oil. Make a paste and massage onto clean dry skin. Leave on the skin for 10mins before removing. The sugar will remove the unwanted dead skin, leaving it super smooth and the coconut oil will hydrate and plump the skin, leaving it glowing and ready for a flawless makeup base.’
2. Glow to Go
This season, the heavy dark contour has been toned down and instead we’re seeing girls use highlighter to illuminate and create sharp cheekbones and jawlines. Sarah Marie says the trick is to add extra highlighter on the top of the cheekbones and inner corners of the eye to give you the gorgeous Bridal glow; but be careful to avoid sparkly or glittery product, as this can be ageing. Smooth, creamy formulas work best and are often used by celebrities like Kim Kardashian to give their skin a flawless, natural finish.
3. Goodbye to Matte
It’s time to say goodbye to your heavy, matte foundations and instead splurge on creamy or semi-matte finishes. Cold weather plays havoc on your skin, leaving it dry and dull, so adding a matte foundation over this will just emphasise the dehydration. If you are concerned about having too much shine, finish your foundation with setting powders to create the matte finish, without drawing attention to your ‘winter’ skin.
4. The Cool Kid’s Colour
This winter, embrace the cool with cool-toned hues of brown and pink for the lips. Waterproof lip-liner for Brides is a must, as it means your colour will last longer. Add lipstick and then finish with a touch of gloss so that your lips don’t become dry or chapped throughout the ceremony and reception.
5. Love Your Lashes
Your winter Bridal look is not complete without finishing with lashes. Your eyes are the windows to your soul and on the Wedding Day, they should be the focus. This season, opt for wispy, Bambi-like lashes using either individual or full sets that are heavier on the outer corners of the eye.
6. Panda-Free
Cold, winter weather means watery eyes and the last thing you want on your Wedding Day is to have panda eyes! Waterproof mascara and waterproof eye pencils are a must during the cooler months, because they’ll stop the makeup running down your face mid-ceremony.
