In the era of digital immediacy, where snapshots are shared with a click and memories float freely in the cloud, the tangible charm of a wedding album might seem quaint, almost archaic. Yet, delve deeper, and you’ll discover that investing in a wedding album transcends mere nostalgia; it’s a celebration of love, a narrative of your special day bound in the permanence of paper and ink.

To illuminate the enduring allure and necessity of wedding albums, we turned to the experts: Rachael Bentick, alongside Dean Bentick, directors of Inlighten Photography. As revered partners of Wedded Week, they bring unparalleled insight into the art of capturing love stories and the irreplaceable value of preserving these moments in a beautifully crafted album.
Top tips for couples designing a wedding album, how to navigate the process and image selection?
“The first step in creating a Wedding Album is selecting your favorite photos that tell your story, let your aesthetic shine through and bring back memories of the people and moments most important to you.” shares Rachael from Inlighten Photography.
“At Inlighten, we use a professional program called Pic-Time that allows you to “heart” your favorites into a folder which you can review and download.”
Here’s Rachael’s tips for Selecting your Photos:
- Set a specific date in your diary for a photo “Selection Date Night”. If you don’t have a specific time, it easily becomes one of those tasks that can easily be put off for another day – and then never gets done. Make a specific date that you both agree to select your favorites together.
- Make selecting your photos fun! Your wedding day was amazing, so pour a glass of wine, connect your computer to the big screen and relive all those wonderful memories again together as you select your favorites.
- You don’t need every single photo in your album, less is definitely more, as it allows you to appreciate these photos and moments more.
- Focus on the 4 C’s
- Cuddles, kisses and real moments with people who are meaningful to you
- Colors from your details that bring the aesthetic and theming of your day through to your album
- Creative photos from your location shoot that stand out in your Album, and make your day look as special as it was.
- Chronological order of your day, so that your story is told from start to finish.
Your thoughts on the importance of couples having a physical album?
“To have only a download link of your photos at the end of your wedding, does do your day justice. EVERY couple who sees their album for the first time says the same thing “Ooh the photos look so different when they’re printed. And it’s actually not just the photoshopping and the printing.” Rachael says.
“It’s the time you’ve taken to curate the true story of your wedding day, by selecting the photos that tell your personal love story.”
Rachael continues “On a wedding day, your photographer’s aim is to capture every moment. But let’s be honest, some moments are more important than others. When you dissect your day and pull out the really pivotal moments, such as your photo with Dad during the Father of the Bride Dance, this moment then sits in a place of importance on its own page in your Wedding Album. Rather than being one of 500 dancing frames taken, down towards the bottom of your scroll. Lost in a sea of other less important moments.”
“Your wedding is a once in a lifetime experience and deserves a true milestone that can be shared with the next generation.”
