The Bachelor’s latest couple have been spotted for the first time together after last night’s explosive finale, with Matty J and Laura Byrne stepping out of hiding hand in hand. The duo were seen walking into KISS 1065’s studios for an interview with Kyle and Jackie O, with the pair revealing they had sex after watching the finale together.
The revelations kept on coming though, with Matty telling The Daily Telegraph on Thursday that he knew Laura was the one on the very first night of the hit reality show. “I wished I could have sent the other contestants home at the beginning except for Laura,” he told the publication.
“Do I wish on night one I could have just said goodbye to the 20 other girls and go ‘Laura’s the one’? I wish I could have.” The latest Bachelor, who had quite a few passionate moments with multiple contestants while filming, continued to explain that he wasn’t interested in creating TV that was compelling to watch, preferring to pursue his true feelings.
“One the one hand, you appreciate there is a TV show being made and you want to be entertaining, but at the same time I got what I came for and I don’t care.”
It was clear that Laura wasn’t aware of the Marketing Manager’s strong feelings, with the beauty fearing Matty was going to choose Elise in last night’s finale. “It’s OK. Whatever it is, it’s OK … If you’re gonna do it, do it,” she said as she began to tear up.
Matty immediately put those fears to rest, telling the accessories designer that he loved her before sliding a diamond ring on her (not the one we’re all thinking of) finger.
“All I wanted was to fall in love. And to fall in love with someone who’s so amazing and to have them love you back, nothing compares.”
“That night when you first told me, I was so excited and I was so happy. All I wanted to do was just speak to you and tell you that, ‘Laura, I’m falling in love with you too.”
Earlier, Matty told runner-up Elise that he was in love with Laura, telling the charismatic marketing executive, “You are so worthy of being happy and finding true love but I’m so sorry that it’s not with me.”
While she remained composed, Elise broke down in tears in the car home, telling viewers, “I feel sad because I lost something that makes me happy and I fell in love with a man who doesn’t love me back.”
Elise has since confessed she was unable to date thanks to her Bachelor contract, telling HIT FM’s Stav, Abby & Matt with Osher on Friday that she was still single because of being banned from seeing anyone until the grand finale aired. “It’s actually been great taking the focus off getting back into the dating world,” she said.
