This weekend British singer Ellie Goulding tied the knot in a spectacular ceremony in York and people are comparing it to a Royal Wedding.
Ellie Goulding married art dealer Caspar Jopling and their wedding hosted A-list Stars from musicians to Royalty including Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Ed Sheeran, Sienna Miller, James Blunt, Joe Wicks, Jimmy Carr as well as Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry’s ex Cressida Bonas.
The couple first started dating in 2017, after their mutual friend Princess Eugenie reportedly introduced them.
Fans went straight to Twitter to gush over how grand Ellie’s big day in York Minster and how it reminded fans of a royal wedding.
One fan wrote; “They do weddings in a big way in the UK because Ellie Goulding is getting married and people are outside like it’s the royal wedding”.
Another one commented; “Omg Ellie Goulding’s wedding looks like a royal wedding with the crowds”.
And just like any Royal wedding, crowds lined to streets to catch a glimpse of such a magnificent sight.
Ellie’s gown said “I do” in a bespoke Chloé gothic style gown, a simple silhouette with delicate beaded flower designs on the entire dress with a high neck collar with a lace trimming which took over 640 hours to construct!
Her bridal look was accompanied by a veil by designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi which consistent of hand-embroidered White Roses of York and the couples initials CJ and EG sewn into the collar which reportedly took nearly as long as the dress, a total of 591 hours!
Speaking about the first fitting of her dress to JustJared, Ellie said: “I have never felt more special than the moment I first tried on the dress during my fitting in Paris, it was utterly awe-inspiring to see the craftsmanship and attention to detail.”
All those hours of sewing, embroidery and every stitch created a remarkable bridal look fit for Royalty!
Arriving in true hippie style, the signer pulled up in a blue VW camper van and the streets were lined with people sending their well wishes.
The entrance of the Church was adorned with floral arches of lush greenery and white florals adding that Royal touch to the ceremony, which looked very similar to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in Windsor last year.
Reportedly, the singer also hired event company Fait Accompli who were used for both Prince William and Prince Harry’s wedding receptions.
The festival styled wedding also included VIP pods for all guests to stay in as well as golf buggies to drive them around the grounds.
