Coming out of Australia’s most loved cooking show, Larissa Takchi was crowned as the youngest winner in MasterChef Australia, what could possibly top this feeling off?
Well, she’s just revealed she has another reason to celebrate – she’s engaged!
At just 22 years old, the restaurant manager has big dreams to open up her own restaurant and build a life with her fiancé Luke.
Larissa’s boyfriend of six years popped the question just one week after she was crowned the winner and took home the title of the winner of MasterChef 2019. “That was a great little bonus for me as well,” she explains to 10 Daily.
And the moment when Luke got down on one knee has melted our hearts melt. The two made a reservation at Peter Gilmore’s Quay Restaurant and Luke picked up Larissa and gave her a blindfold to put on. Luke drove to his house and told Larissa to take off the blindfold and open her eyes where she saw Luke’s front porch lit up with block letters saying “Marry Me”.
Making it right until the very end of the competition meant that Larissa was away from Luke and her entire family for six months, only communicating via mail and brief phone calls. Larissa described the competition as a test to their relationship but she was over the moon to know that it reaffirmed their bond which is why Luke put a ring on it!
“I think that experience can either make or break a relationship — for us, it made it. It was just confirmed that, if you can deal with this situation under this kind of pressure and you can still support me at the end of the day, not seeing me, not being able to talk to you,” she told 10 Daily. We totally think that he is a definite keeper!
Larissa and Luke have agreed to wait a bit and just to see where life takes the two. “I’d rather let it settle down and have an idea of what’s happening at least, and then we can start thinking about planning a wedding,” explains Larissa.
