Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2025 (BBFW 25) took place from April 23 to 27 at Fira Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue, hosting 44 runway shows and nearly 450 brands from 32 countries in its largest edition yet. Under the theme “GO,” BBFW 25 positioned itself as the global epicenter of bridal innovation, uniting legacy couturiers and emerging ateliers to set the bridal trends for 2026 and beyond.

Notable designers present at the Bridal fashion week

  • Notable luxury bridal wear designers in attendance at this year’s BBFW included Vivienne Westwood, Ines Di Santo, JoliPoli Couture, Wang Feng Couture, The Atelier and more! These iconic designers set the stage at the BBFW 2025, sending waves through the industry, confirming and creating trends.

  • Andreas Kronthaler, Westwood’s creative director, personally closed the bridal show in an avant-garde gown, spotlighting pieces that spanned classic whites to rose prints and light blues.

The Trends That Emerged from BBFW 25

Sophisticated Sheer

Designers at BBFW 25 elevated bridal sensuality by masterfully layering tulle, organza, and unlined lace to create gowns that feel weightless yet commanding. Instead of concealing the body, strategic sheer panels–placed along shoulders, sleeves, and décolletage offer a whisper of skin, balancing tradition with modern allure

Yolancris draped ultra-fine Spanish tulle over corseted bodices, then “splattered” preserved silk flowers across sheer skirts so that blooms seem to float on skin. Joli Poli married architectural corsetry with strategically placed Chantilly lace and layered chiffon/tulle overlays on sheer organza panels added focal points of craftsmanship, balancing structure with whisper-light transparency.

A Riot of Color

BBFW 25 shattered the “all-white” paradigm, unveiling collections awash in unexpected hues. Wang Feng shattered bridal conventions by draping architectural gowns in vivid rose-pink plumes, zesty yellow accents, and Bold tones–layering color on sheer overlays, feathers to amplify texture and drama. Marco & María’s BBFW 2025 presentation channeled their signature vintage romance with pastel-ombré tiered ruffle gowns that swayed like theatrical curtains, while party-inspired fringe accents injected a joyous, celebratory energy into each silhouette.

Sparkles and Metallic Moments

Under the Montjuïc lights, metallic gown elements gleamed like jewels. Designers embraced glossy lamé fabrics–sometimes woven with silk or lurex threads–to capture every flicker of light. Holographic foils and mica-infused organza layered over classic silhouettes imparted a futuristic edge, while crystal and bead embroidery echoed precious metalwork.

Isabel Sanchis channeled ancient Greece with toga-inspired column gowns in silk chiffon, featuring asymmetric one-shoulder drapes and artful pleating that skimmed the body. She cinched each look with braided cord belts and high side slits, marrying classical goddess silhouettes with modern bridal minimalism. Yuliia Lobachova’s BBFW 2025 debut with Ricca Sposa Couture fused luxurious silk faille and embroidered tulle, featuring hand-stitched crystal motifs and 3D appliqués that shimmered under the lights. She balanced architectural bodices with sweeping, detachable cathedral-length overskirts, offering brides a dramatic ceremony look that easily transformed into a reception-ready silhouette.

From Runway to Royalty

Fairy-tale fantasy reigned supreme as full-skirted ball gowns made a regal comeback. Julia Kontogruni’s offerings featured wire-reinforced corsetry and Swarovski-encrusted bodices, creating sculptural silhouettes worthy of a modern-day princess. Sweeping temple-length veils and cathedral trains added theatrical drama, inviting brides to indulge in grandeur.

The Atelier by Jimmy Choo followed with tulle overskirts layered over satin underdresses, accented by jeweled belts and temple-length veils for maximum pageant-style drama. Badgley Mischka’s BBFW 2025 runway married old-Hollywood glamour and modern minimalism with bias-cut satin and silk-faille gowns edged in Art Deco crystal-lace appliqués. Tea-length overlays, detachable tulle trains, and pearl-accented headbands added versatile, editorial flair–perfect for brides who crave both timeless elegance and contemporary edge.

Bridal Capes are Back

Capes emerged as the season’s most versatile alternative to the traditional veil. From full-length opera capes in crushed velvet to detachable chiffon shoulder trains, this accessory offered brides a dramatic reveal moment, and an effortless way to transform their look between ceremony and reception

Vivienne Westwood revealed a 30-look 2026 Bridal Couture lineup that fused her punk-romantic legacy with Andreas Kronthaler’s artisanal innovations featuring flexible corsetry, detachable overskirts, rose-print chiffons, and gender-inclusive tailoring. The collection balanced reverence and rebellion, showcasing sculptural capes, archival revivals like the 1995 “Vive la Cocotte” gown. Agnieszka Swiatly’s BBFW 2025 runway leaned into capes with looks like a mikado ball gown topped by a cathedral-length chiffon cape cascading from jeweled shoulders. She completed the theme with a minimalist crepe sheath was overlaid by a sheer organza cape dotted in tonal lace appliqués, marrying structural polish with ethereal romance

Coquette Couture

A playful, ultra-feminine mood surfaced through exaggerated bows, 3D floral appliqués, and pearl-encrusted motifs. Oversized bows at the waist or on puffed sleeves lent gowns a coquettish charm, while scattered 3D blooms created a tactile, almost sculptural effect on skirts and trains.

On her angelic crepe and chiffon gowns, Marylise, Rembo & Carta Branca, positioned satin bows right at the shoulder seams, turning what might have been a simple off-the-shoulder line into a graphic focal point that framed the face and added instant drama. Tina Valerdi struck a balance between power and delicacy, draping sculptural corsets in guipure 3D floral appliqués at shoulders and hips for a bloom-like effect. Each look was finished with pearl-embellished straps and scattered beadwork on tulle overlays, adding coquettish sparkle to her majestic silhouettes
