This month the 25th annual Barcelona Bridal Week took place in Spain. The event showcased a stunning selection of European designers whose 2016 collections will be available in Australia as early as July this year.

White Lily Couture Style Director, Alera Kingham was our expert on the ground and she’s noted the three major trends headed from Europe to Australia for next year’s brides-to-be:
1. Tattoo Lace
The 2016 season is set to be sophisticated and sexy and tattoo lace is going to be one of next year’s biggest bridal trends. We saw a lot of this trend at the 2015 Met Gala – it is the perfect look for curvy and athletic brides seeking a wedding worthy gown with a sexy edge.
2. Floral Embroidery
The Pronovias Atelier collection for 2016 is a real stand out; it delivers romantic and fashion-forward styles to suit a range of brides. One of the biggest trends featured in the Atelier collection is delicate and whimsical floral embroidery – I expect this trend to be popular with boho brides.
3. Versatile style
The new season’s strong silhouettes will speak to modern brides – another unexpected trend which emerged during Barcelona Bridal week which I think will appeal to modern brides is the versatility of 2016 gowns. Gowns with detachable linings, jackets and skirts were featured heavily on the runway and will be perfect for brides who want to change their look for receptions or for brides getting married during winter and autumn.
