You will be hardpressed to find a honeymoon destination as versatile as Turkey. With its vibrant culture, delicious food, strong history and beautiful ports, there is something for every couple. While we should mention that Turkey is still considered a high-risk travel area, we believe it’s well worth the risk.

Here are 6 reasons why Turkey is the ultimate honeymoon destination.
The Crystal Clear Water
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches in Turkey, so take your pick! Scattered around the country are the coastal towns of Bodrum, Fethiye, and Kuşadası which all have beautiful beaches. The water is a shade of blue we thought was only possible through an Instagram filter. Think of them as little pockets of paradise ready for you to explore.
Cappadocia
Tick an item off your bucket list and take a hot air balloon ride at Cappadocia. Even if you have never heard of the place, you have definitely seen pictures of it online. If you are going to take a hot air balloon ride – and we highly recommend it – aim to take flight around dusk to truly experience the landscape. Not to mention, the whole experience oozes romance.
The Grand Bazaar
Treat your senses with a trip to Grand Bazaar. Here’s where you’ll be able to pick up a special souvenir to remember your holiday. You can spend hours slowly wandering through the narrow aisles of one of the oldest covered markets in the world and step back in time by watching artisans making their goods. Gaze into the twinkly colours of mosaic lamps and munch on Turkish pastries.
Cotton Castles
Travel to the Pamukkale to experience the mineral-rich waters of the travertine terraces. Pamukkale translates to ‘cotton castle’ in English. The pools are almost a trick of the eye. You expect this type of glistening white landscape to be filled with snow, not salty rocks in the middle of the desert. Remember to be respectful when walking between the terraces as it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Food
It’s well known that the Turkish people make good food. With the wedding over, you can sit back and indulge in all the delicious foods the country has to offer. Sip on Turkish coffee to put a pep back in your step and graze on all the meze your loved-up heart desires. Trust us, there will be plenty of it to go around. Now, did someone say gozleme?
Historical Sites
Along with the diverse landscapes, Turkey is filled with an array of historical attractions. For the history buffs, we recommend visiting the well-preserved ruins of Ephesus. You are instantly transported back in time to an ancient bustling city. For a moving spiritual experience, you must visit the basilica turned museum, Hagia Sophia, which attracted 1.9 million visitors in 2017.
