Why You Should Ditch The Skirt For A Wedding Playsuit Instead

If you hadn’t caught sight of it yet, one of fashion’s biggest influencers, Chiara Ferragni (also known as The Blonde Salad) got married over the weekend and her choices in wedding gowns have us saying “haute couture” over and over again in our sleep.

At the top of her game, it comes as no surprise that the bride wore three custom-made Dior gowns throughout the day, each one unique in its style and personal touches. With one gown embroidered with words and symbols from one of husband Fedez‘s songs about their relationship and another swapping out a long tulle skirt for a short reception one, Chiara was ticking off high points on the fashion list. However it was the versatility of her ceremony dress that caught our eye.

Playsuits Are The Season’s Growing Trend

Bridalwear is constantly evolving, so it’s safe to say that the dress you cut out and saved when you were a teenager no longer holds the same allure as it once used to.

With modern brides looking for ways to spark up their wedding gowns, in both subtle and playful ways, the unsurprising natural evolution is the playsuit.

It’s Versatile

It’s not as though you can ever wear your wedding dress again. With a hybrid dress – that is, piecing together the something like a playsuit and a skirt – allows for more freedom in style. For the ceremony, a more conservative look with a long tulle skirt fits into the traditional wedding mold. For the reception, kick off your heels (only is necessary) and whip off your skirt to reveal your oh-so-fashionable playsuit. You’ll be the Houdini of throwing wedding looks.

It’s Modern

Maybe you’re itching for something a little different or maybe you just really don’t like long dresses. Either way, the playsuit/jumpsuit means business (the seriously fun kind). For brides who don’t want the glitz and glam expected of a regular wedding, the bridal jumpsuit is the perfect way to add another layer of Cool-Gal-Chill-Gal chic to your day.

It’s Comfortable

You often see the lengthy train and the layers that go into a truly magnificent wedding dress, and while you love the idea of looking like a princess for a day, the very thought of carrying all of that material around all day weighs you down. A playsuit not only feels comfortable but puts you at ease – no getting the bottoms of it dirty, no unintentional flashing. Plus, if you’re anything like us, you probably enjoy a little boogie on the dancefloor without having to worry about feeling restricted.
