WE’VE REACHED 400K!

It seems only yesterday that Wedded Wonderland was a labour of love managed by Wendy El-Khoury (forever our Fairy Godmother), but just last night, the Wedded Wonderland Instagram account hit a whopping 400,000 followers!

In just a few short years, Wedded Wonderland has gone from a Facebook page of bridal inspo to an online magazine with more than 1 million views, a thriving business and a team of six wedding-crazy girls.

To celebrate this incredible milestone, we partnered with talented illustrator, Alexandra Nea and asked her to create a sketch that brought to life everything that Wedded Wonderland was about.

This is how it all came together…

Wedded Wonderland: What was the inspiration behind the Wedded sketch?

Alexandra: I wanted to create an illustration that represented the ultra glamorous aesthetic of the Wedded Wonderland brand. I chose to have three brides dressed in my favourite iconic couture bridal designers Steven Khalil, Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad for an over-the-top display of wedded luxury. A floral wall is one of the hottest features of the season so a must to include, I gave it a little reverse twist by leaving gaps in the wall which spell out the event we are celebrating, Wedded Wonderland reaching 400,000 followers!

WW: How long does a bridal sketch generally take?

Alexandra: It depends on the level of detail involved. Anywhere from an hour to a couple of days. This particular illustration took over three days to complete with the floral wall demanding a lot of attention to detail.

WW: Why do you think the bridal sketch has increased so much in popularity?

Alexandra: This is a question that has come up so much recently. My opinion is that with all the latest technology available people are now looking for something new, a unique way to capture their big day other than the traditional medium of photography and video. Thousands of photos can be taken but to have that singular individual piece of art which will be treasured for a lifetime is a wonderful sentimental hark back to those celebrated bygone artisan years.
