The best weekend getaways for couples in Australia are the ones you can reach on a Friday and still feel far from home: a harbour suite in Sydney, a vineyard villa in the Barossa, a lodge on the clifftops of Kangaroo Island. We've picked 20 across every state and the Northern Territory, grouped by state, with what each one does best for two.
Every stay below was checked on its own website in November 2026. If you'd rather hand the planning over, Wedded Concierge can book the stay and shape the weekend around it.
Where: on the harbour, looking across to the Opera House
Best for: a city weekend that still feels like a holiday
At Park Hyatt Sydney, floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto private balconies over the water, and there's a rooftop pool and a day spa. The hotel's Romance at the Park package adds Taittinger, breakfast, valet parking and a 12pm late check-out. It's also one of our Sydney wedding venues.
Where: 2 Surfleet Place, Kiama
Getting there: about 90 minutes south of Sydney, according to Ridgewaters
Ridgewaters Kiama is the closest of the coastal picks to Sydney. Its oversized three-bedroom designer apartments sit in a low-rise development, with Kiama's beaches, the town centre and the blowholes close by.

Where: 200 Horderns Road, Bowral, in the Southern Highlands
Best for: fireside evenings and a spa day in the hills
