The Royal Wedding of Princess Theodora of Greece and USA Lawyer Matthew Kumar

Wedding bells tolled in Athens on the 30th of September as Princess Theodora of Greece wed Matthew Kumar in a spectacular ceremony. Exactly 60 years after her own parents, Anne Marie of Denmark and Constantine II, were wed in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, Theodora had tied the knot in the exact same venue. She is the fourth daughter of the Greek monarchs.

The Bridal Ensemble

For her wedding day, Princess Theodora wore a historic tiara. It originally belonged to Princess Margaret of Connaught, the Crown Princess of Sweden born in 1885. Likewise, the stunning lace veil she wore also belonged to Princess Margaret of Connaught, whose female descendants have all worn the veil during their nuptials. The intricate veil cascaded like a waterfall, making the bride look truly radiant.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the Metropolitan Greek Cathedral, where monarchs from across the globe were in attendance. The couple stood at the heart of the church, where they were officially wed before family and friends in accordance with the Byzantine Typikon ritual.  White and green foliage adorned the altar area.

Among the royals in attendance were Queen Sofia of Spain, Countess Alexandra, Michael Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille, and Princess Benedikte of Demark.
